Lets talk 2 steps on a clutch pedal as I have never run one but will be setting one up on my car this year. I have all the electronics in the car and its wired but I need to install the switch on the pedal. Thanks Scott!

I use the stock clutch switch to a relay.

Took a new 12V source to the switch, then out of the switch to the relay coil. Now when the switch is in (clutch on the floor, the realy is made up.

The relay I have is DPDT, meaning it has two seperate contacts.

On one set of contacts, I have the stock wires that interupt the ignition.

On the other set of contact, I take that 12V power and out to another relay. The second realy is wire per MSD instruction for a "one shot". This circuit holds my line lock while the two step is active for launch, but will not come back in again going down track. the process is stage, push in the clutch, hold the brake, tap the line lock button, and then the line lock is held, and the two step active until the clutch pedal comes out. The circuit will not come back on until both the clutch pedal is depressed and the line lock button is pushed. Works well for me (but hard to type out )

I bet very hard to type out. I hate to say this but could I get a drawing of the wiring and a pic of the switch? Please??? LOL Sorry I cant see it all in my head.

I guess I should tell you what I have for electronics before you do it to see if I have the right stuff. I have an MSD 6AL, MSD 2 step and the car is a 1979 coupe so pedals may not have the switch, I have to look tonight.

I have a 6AL and this is how mine's wired. I'm not using the factory clutch switch but a separate switch instead, but that shouldn't make a difference. This even gives the MSD part number for the correct relay.

This ties the 2 step and line lock both to the clutch switch as Bob mentioned but you could use it for just the 2 step if you wanted.

Some guys do it this way then run a separate switched source to the line lock for use during burnouts.

    Here's my switch:

The bracket also acts as a clutch stop as I didn't want the pedal arm to travel past the switch and break it off. Works great as I had too much pedal travel before anyways.

Before I had the stop when I held the clutch pedal all the way to the floor my knee would be locked straight out. Having it stop just off the floor allows my knee to still be bent ever so slightly which improves my R/T's. At least it seems that way to me!

Nice write up Mike, mine is mostly wired per that diagram, the extra relay I mentioned is just to keep the clutch safety switch.

Hard to get a picture of the switch on mine as its way up there on the pedal assembly.

Very nice guys. This weekend I will have to get up under the dash and look around and see what I have, heck maybe I have it all. LOL Thanks!

Ok next question where do you get the switch?

The switch I use is a MSD 8820 which I bought from Summit. Oddly enough Summit doesn't list that part number anymore and although it's shown and labeled in their diagrams, MSD doesn't list it either. Hmm, wonder what's up with that?

    This one looks similar though:
