The headight harness in my LTD had been mostly consumed by mice when it sat in the field. I didn't think it would be an issue to find one as everytime I went to the pik n pull it always seemed like there was a LTD there, no of course when I need one there are no LTD's in the yard.
I still have a couple more to look at around here, but was curious if the headight harness from say an 85 Mustang would work on an LTD, seems to me it would but thought I'd check it out in case someone else has done this.
No, they are different. But you could go to the yards and find good looking wires that look close to yours and replace the bad sections by soldering and heat shrink. May take time but it'll look original if you do it right.
I watched a friend do this to the Shelby GT40 that the Petersen museum has. He took the harness from a car of the same year and made it look like the harness on the GT40 had never been worked on.

Thanks, wonder what is different. There was nothing left to salvage on this one, the mice at the wires right up to the connector. I'll just have to keep looking around to find a junkyard with an LTD in there.

I don't see why a Mustang harness wouldn't work, other than maybe needing to extend a few wires. They have the same light set up - four headlights, two bumper signals/parking lights, and two marker lights.

I think you could make it work. Like Scott said, you might have to add a bit to some of the wires.:)

I've got two manuals coming from Helm that have the wiring harness diagrams in them, hopefully that will help. I'm going to hit a couple junkyards on Monday too so hopefully I can find some harness that will work, and a fuel tank for my hooptie.
