I just bought a 79 Capri RS that was for sale Here in Albuquerque for a Member in Chicago land.
And I wanted Him to get some opinions on if He should stay with the carburetor Turbo set up ,
or do the fuel injected swap ,
6 months ago I would have said go with the fuel injection but I am not sure being there is several people in this and other forums making great horsepower with carbed turbo's .so what do you guy's think?

I have a lot of turbocoupe parts and a couple of complete engines that are available to Him if he needs them so money is not the primary factor here .

I will keep the members name secret till he chimes in on this thread and then I will post pics up when He is ready :)

If your going to keep the car stock, keep it original and go with the carb set up. If he's looking to mod the car and get big HP out of it - the skys' the limit, either way you go.

However, I will be easier to produce more HP with a EFI set up and it will be more reliable.

Ha, I found out what you're trying to do Robbie. You are amazingly helpful. Yes it's true Robbie is helping me out with my purchase, immensely!
I play on modifying the car, not crazy heavy, but a fair amount. If the car's weight really is 2500 lbs, I'd like to be hitting 250-300 hp, but on a budget. I'd like it to be driven only for weekends mostly, stored in the winters. I'm still doing a lot of research as well on the car.
Interior will stay somewhat stock, but the seats will most likely be going.
Anyone that wants to chime in as well will be welcomed. Bring your wisdom please!

as we clean it up and get it tuned and running well I will post updates to this project ,I think after a bit of work and a few parts this will be a great car,and after Josh gets it home and puts one of his high dollar paint jobs it will be stunning .:)

oh and by the way the only body damage is a hole in the passenger fender from a 44 magnum, lol
the under side of the car is very clean ,the one bonus to living its life in New Mexico is no Rust issues:)

Awesome!!

Congrats on the purchase Josh and thats awesome your helping him get it Robbie!

being this car was being scouted for a V8 conversion , I felt an obligation to buy it or find someone here that would like to have it,
and not only is Josh a great guy but it is nice to see someone get excited about these rare turbo cars as much as He is ,
and with his paint skills and my 2.3 experience along with help from this forum,

I think it will be a fantastic car when done, and this is gonna be a fun project and if He fly's here to pick it up or I drive it or tow it to him instead of paying a huge amount to have it shipped opens up more cash for mods vs shipping cost's

If you are going to keep the turbo motor, as it is, you will need "The Book". just ask the others.

I dont believe that a car has to remain original, but I do like to always modify in a way that I can always put it back to original. I also try to stick to the factory theme.
