I have the opportunity to purchase a 1985 LTD LX...there is an EXP badge on the car and the orig owner...a 64 year old guy...states that it was there when he bought the car? It has a console and bucket seats and a floor shifter...I am an avid collector of mustangs and bought one off him and now may buy this??? What is it and its value?
LTDLX.org (http://www.ltdlx.org/index.html) may help a bit.
But also, what do you want to know? EXP.... I've never heard of that badge being on these cars from the factory. May be a dealer add on for some reason.

No way Jose. Here's a Ford EXP: http://www.motorbase.com/pictures/contributions/000121b/std_1984_ford_exp-1.jpg
Someone took the badge off that and stuck it to the LTD for unknown reasons.

Exactly. If the old man has always known it to be on there then I'm thinking the dealership tossed it on to make people think it was more than what it already was!
And the fact that the badge will not look like the others... it's a fake!
:p

Wouldn't have come from the assembly plant like that.
EXPs were built at Wayne (MI).
LTDs were built at Atlanta and Chicago

I am familiar with the EPX two seater cars and wondered if they threw it on the car...I decided to pass on the car anyway. If anyone is interested in it, let me know and I can hook you up with the seller.
