My wagon currently has hood pins on it that I hate. I went to my parts car today and got the latch and cable out of it. I notcied a plug was in the hole in the firewall but the carpet didnt have a hole in it for the cable. Was the cable an option on these cars? I had rather just be able to open the hood from the outside so I dont have to go open the car door and "pop" the hood that way. Does anyone know where I can get the "cheap car" hood latch without the cable? thanks.

I think it's a year to year thing.
My 81 uses a cable to the interior and on the 78 the
release is at the left parking light.

Probably so. Do you have an extra one without the cable that you want to sell?

It's not a year thing. My '78 Friggin' Futura has the remote hood release. My '78 Wagon of Evil, however, was external. I changed it to remote release since it's external hardware was on the verge of breaking.
I believe it was an option/package/trim level thing
