I knew my svo had a roller cam but did not know which cam it was,I did not think it mattered due to it being left to the open air and being rusted I figured it was foobar.
but with just a rag I was able to just wipe the rust off the camshaft to reveal a very shiny cam under very lite surface rust.
the followers however will be unusable I think .my question is where are the marking's on the cam ?
I think it may be a A237 but want to know for sure . also what is the procedure for pulling the camshaft?and what tools are needed?
thanks in advance

Show me a picture of the cam. I might be able to identify it. Most cams will have numbers engraved on the end of the cam.

Especially with a roller cam, you need to use the tool (see Esslinger - $45) to remove the followers. Slider cams you can get away with a wrench. You might even figure out how to get the roller follwers off without the tool, if you are creative.

You need to remove the 2 phillips screws from the cam retainer at the back side of the cam/head. The cam will slide out the front. This of course is assuming you've removed the timing cover, belt, etc. first.

I have the proper tool to remove the lifters. I used it last weekend to score me a roller cam out of the u-pull-it.
