What year? I think a Mustang II front end on a Fairmont body would look hella cool!

79-86. The Mustang II is too round I think. I am thinking that the fenders and bumper cover should work. But I have been wrong before.

Someone find the link; there is a long thread with pic's on this..... I can barely remember it through the alcoholic fog now surrounding my brain......

Yes, I was half-joking but it'll be soo different!

The Fox Mustang Fenders contours at the front of the doors are different than the Fairmonts. LTDs and Fairmonts share the same body contours but not the Mustang. I think this is partly due to the Mustang's 1" higher cowl and also how Ford shaped the side of the fender/door/body.

I was thinking of using an '82 GT air dam on the '83 2dr sedan but someone grabbed it before I got back to it.

We're walking a fine line here since swapping Mustang noses onto non-Mustangs may be frowned upon.

I think MM & FF did a story on a 4 door zephyr a few years back too. guy had to cut 2 sets of fenders up to elongate them to fit the doors and the headlight panel.

It will work..................IF you can do some body work my man. You have to use 2 left fenders (one Mustang and one mont or zeph) and the same on the right. On the hood it is a splice case on it also. There are a couple of inches you have to add before it will fit. The mustang hood is to short as the fenders have the same problem. In other words..........get to splicing and show off some body work skills. Good luck.

They are just polished. Polishing plastics is not difficult but you have to have the right tools (buffing wheel, buffs), polishing compound(s), and time and patience. Its hard to believe that car (as modified) is 10 years old.

I personally like the stock front end on a four eyed F/Z (two eyed F Im not as keen on but its OK)but admit that the later 85-86 L/M nose does look good on a F/Z as well. That is a lot of work to do though.

Where is that pic of the LTD wagon with an 83-84 front nose? I think it is pink with graphics on it.

I think it would look ugly. 'Monts look good as is with the front ends they were born with. And yes, this is walking a fine line. Don't get why people have to make non-Mustangs look like Mustangs. What is the advantage? Look like everybody else? Shave the bumper, add a Zephyr grille, white the amber turn signal lenses......just keep it looking like what it is supposed to look like.

The owner says those are "pixeled mirror reflector taillamps". Don't know what they means exactly but it sounds like more than just a polish with a buffing wheel.

The polishing I was talking about refers only to the lenses - thats what I though the previous poster was specifically asking about. I believe the "pixeled mirror" thing refers to some type of mirror material that was applied to the inside of the taillamp housing. You can see it thru the polished plastic lense. Perhaps it was his own invention but Ill bet that he saw that on some zillion dollar custom car and figured out how to do it on his Futura. Im not putting him down as I think that car looks very good from the rear.

What "parts" are you going to have available by making the front end look like a Mustang, that you wouldn't otherwise have available by keeping it a Fairmont? A 'cowl' hood? Headlight covers? Foglamps?

The worst thing about that front end on that car is the beltline molding doesn't work with the rest of the car. The front end would look like it belongs on there if it weren't for that.

maybe he should try and find the rest of the molding, and make custom molding for the rear

It would take quite a bit of work to do that, the body panels on the mont don't have the sheet metal made to accept the molding.

Actually, not as bad as I would have imaged but then again definately not my taste. Im just an old fashioned four eyed F/Z guy. My dad would have said that is like putting perfume on a pig (today I guess they say lipstick on a pig/pitbull).

Interesting but not my style. The only nose swap that I dig is the LTD nose on the Fairmont coupe.
