Hi there, Just been working on the rear of my pace car and one side of the brake line broke!! Thinking of buying a flaring tool and some brake pipe to make my own, but I'm not sure what size to get. Does anyone know what diameter brake lines were used on foxes?

Thanks for your help

Steve

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.

I ordered the flaring tool and brake line today, hopefully it won't take too long for them to arrive. I shall then be another step nearer to getting my car on the road :)

Making the line should be easy, you maybe able to buy the right length without having to make one. Just be sure the w/c bleeder opens or you will need a W/C also.

Good Luck!

You are getting a "Double" flaring tool, right?

Brake lines have to be double flared.

Thanks mate

I've actually stripped the brakes down as everything was so rusty. I've never seen anything as bad as this before, they couldn't have been touched in years!! I'm kicking myself for not taking any pictures too.

For piece of mind I am going to replace the w/c and brake shoes.

Thanks for the heads up mate, yes the tool I'm getting does single and double flares.

I used 3/16" Kunifer brake pipe when I made my brake lines. Going to redo the lines soon when I fit Cobra calipers and a '95 GT master cylinder.

Mine broke as well where it comes out of the car. I was debating on whether or not I wanted to put another stock type one on it, or just get new ones for an 87+ car and swap them all out. I've got an 8.8 in it, so the rear line needs to move anyway. (I've got later model Cobra brakes on the front and need to redo my M/C prop valve anyway and thought it might be easier to do with 87+ parts since all of the online how-tos are geared towards them.) The car is just a roller now, so now would be the best/easiest time to do it right!
