I won't have any issues swapping a k-member and LCA's from a 91 into my 81 right?

I'm going from the 3.3 to a 2.3T. I'll be swapping the spindles and brakes to of course:)

All K-members interchange accept the99-04 SN-95's IIRC. Does anone like the 3.3? I mean damn, wheres the L6 love?

It only makes like 100hp and no aftermarket support.

It's a shame though really cause the one in my car has only 122,XXX km's and runs great.

Measure everything before removing. I used a plumb bob and made reference marks for the spindle and front and rear points on the floor before I did mine. I have a 90 k member, struts, spindles, rack ect under my 79

make sure you get an alignment afterwards and you'll be good to go

Is a k-member swap failry straight forward? Does the car have to be setting perfectly balanced like it does for subframes? When I pull the 5.0 I'dto put in a tubular k-member.

No aftermarket support?

How about a aluminum head that flows 205cfm at .500 lift out of the box. A aluminum 4bbl intake, hydraulic or solid cams, roller timing chains, roughly same weight as the 2.3L, and 60 extra cubic inches. http://www.classicinlines.com/proddetail.asp?prod=ACH-250-BRH

The block has seven main journals, one between every crank throw for a super strong bottom end, no one knows of anyone destroying a crank from too much power. A guy on forums named Does 10's has a 250 Inline bored and stroked to 273ci making 325hp and 502 ft lbs of torque, Another 273ci owner is making 445hp and about 450ft lbs torque.

The K-member itself is different but any suspension parts such as A-arms, sway bars, springs, coil over strut kits, big brakes will all work on the inline six.

The only thing bad is its a bit problematic at the moment to run a T5 on the 3.3L in a Fox body. Classic Inlines plans to release a T5 kit at some later date.

I have a 81 T-top coupe with 3.3L and automatic and its staying that way.

I am also building a mildly turbocharged 3.3L inline into my 91 Mustang LX convertible. I will be pushing over 200hp but its not a race car, it will be my daily driver.

One Fordsix forum member in Finland runs a 81 Mustang coupe with inline six in Autocross competition.

I have all parts to bolt up a T5 but havent figured out how to move throw out bearing yet.

This site can answer all your inline six questions.

And another thing. If you go to a car show it is not likely you will see another inline six Fox body user, we are few and far between.

Inline sixes can make good power, ask any BMW M3 owner and any Nissan 240, 260, or 280Z owner.

I wouldn't compare the Ford 3.3L six to anything that ever came in an M3.

That head isn't exactly cheap...over $1,300 BARE. I'll stick with my 2.3T:)

I guess you have to use common sense. No one would expect to compare a 90hp 3.3L inline six to a 330hp 3.2L inline six on a performance note.

Engineering wise it is a very strong motor. No one knows what the block is capable of. Highest numbers reported so far are around 560hp for a turbo motor.

The comparison was to point out that there are high performance inline six cars like the M3's, Z cars, and Skyline GT-R's.

The point was that the parts to build a hipo inline six exist. It is no longer just a doorstop and was recommending that you not be so quick to dismiss it.

As for the aluminum head a complete head is $1500 and if you think that is too much for a Aluminum head compare that price to a Esslinger D port head or ARCA head.

I admit it can be done, I just have no interest it doing it...for the following reasons:

-I already had a complete 88 TC parts car.
-I want a manual trans.
-I want EFI.
-I want decent fuel economy.

It would be cool to do one up just for the fact it would be the only one around, but my budget and other requirements don't lend themselves to building the six.

no you can get it up in there. when we did mine we were on a steep driveway on jack stands.

a strong helper and a couple of good floor jacks will definitely help. I've got a stock 1989 k-member with all attachments still on it in my garage and that mutha is heavy.

You forgot to mention the Supra's. Turbo Supra's with mods have been known to make some big power.
