If you are going to replace the intake go with the newer style. You can gut the upper then port and knife edge the lower. That's what i did and it will still looks stock.

that was the original plan. i already ported and knife edged the lower, i am just considering an aftermarket upper. im eliminating the EGR and IAC so aftermarket would be nice so i dont have to have block off plates or anything. im trying to stay as far away from stock as possible anyway.

The only "aftermarket" ones are the ones I mentioned in your big thread.

yea, i looked at 40 bobs and i think im buying the cylindrical sheet metal one. i just dont want a stock style intake and its not too bad of a price considering it come with a 65 MM TB with the right throttle set-up.

I get it. You want something big and fancy so when you open the hood people will go "OOOooooo....":pimp: The cylindrical one look like it would work or be severly overkill

lol now you get it. not only do i want it fast, but it needs to look insane. i really dont want there to be ANY issue with getting air in and out of the cylinders. im dropping my head off to a guy i know before i go to mexico on thursday for a port job. which reminds me. does anyone know where to find the page of info on head porting? i need to know how far it came be ported. im going to print that page off and hand it to the porting guy along with the head.

There is a guy/shop in NY that could make you a real snazzy intake...

Yup one of the ones I spoke-ish of. Of course it helps I think if you have a inline lower :D But that doesn't stop ya cause others have made box style intakes using the 4 square style as well.

i dont like the way the box style intakes with the sheetmetal upper look. they dont look like they flow any better either, but i could be wrong.
