Oh yeah... when was the last time y'all have seen one of THESE? :D

Ok, so my Ex husband had this bright Idea back in the early '90s to take a Mercury Capri and turn it into a Mustang. He was successful and to be quite honest, the car looked fabulous. It took several junked aero Stangs to build this car.

I don't have many pictures but, here are the few I have...

The one and only pic I have of it before the aero stuff was installed

After paint

As you can see, it was built with care and not just cobbled together. The interior was swapped also, as well as the drive train/suspension. EVERYTHING on this car is '87+ Mustang. The 5.0 that was put in is an '89+ because it's mass air. I'll be keeping the engine. :D

The interior needs restored so, I might as well go retro there too. :D

Needs cleaned up but, runs strong

As it sits today

At this time, I am merely hunting and gathering parts. I should have the nose in a week or two, complete with headlights and reinforcement. I'll post pics of the parts as they come..

These two just might become a part of this project

Sweet deal! Looks like those two have everything you need, unless your going for the early capri look. What year is your car?

Mybe this will get the other members of the site to do theirs as well.

Well... ummm.... *reads title of thread*... oh yeah, it's an '80... :D

Here's the front end I should see on my doorstep soon. A couple guys on Stangnet pitched in and bought it for me cause, yeah, I'm a whiner, lol.

Yeah, it would be neat if this inspired others.

Ok I am off my sugar rush from work and I see that now.lol I also had to go back through your post to figure out who you are, even after the pm's. Ya I know how lame that is now, but when people change their avatars I get screwed up. I am just spaztic like that.:hsdance:

So back on track here, that front cover is from a 83-86 basically. The only real difference as far as I know is that instead of a 3 bar grill on the later capris, the early cars had a five bar like dad's and mine do. Do you know if the car was a RS? What exactly are you planing on doing to it?

LOL, I won't change my avatar again. It's not an RS. It started its life as a brown, four banger. Actually, it was the exact same color as the nose I'm getting.

My goal is something close to this

The trim on it now is from an '87+ car. I will need to get trim to match the fromt end I'm getting.

The only thing that remained Capri on this car is the frame, hatch and fenders. Everything else is Mustang. I mean, EVERYTHING. :(

I know it,...I couldn't help myself...

Feel better now?

Looks good!

The inspiration car looks very cool. A tough road race look to it.

I can use your front end sheetmetal/clip on #71. I'm sure it would be a costly ship tho.

Yeah, it would. I'm only removing the nose and hood. Keeping the Capri fenders and using the hood and Saleen airdam on my '89 Notch since it's got a dent in the hood. So, basically the only thing available is the LX nose/headlights.

It still needs the trim around the doors, the interior piece needs to be replaced and the whole car will be repainted at some point but here's a couple pics. :)
