I was told by my dealer principal back in 84 that Ford did offer a special "racing or performance" version of the SVO that was special order. It would not come with A/C, power windows, sound deadening, radio, etc, so that it would be its very lightest as possible. Maybe the buck tag might say something on it or have a certain build code.

Pretty sure that the 84 was considered an option delete.

I heard the same thing. One of those "back door, don't ask don't tell" cars. Just tick the option box and pay the extra $$$

Never seen a factory sepcial SVO so it might be an internet roumor.

My svo has no a/c, power windows/locks, and cruise but I'm pretty sure it came with a radio.

The comp prep's in 84 were made after March 1, this is when option 41C started, before that time you could order a svo any way you wanted with air, or without , manual windowes etc. 84 comp preps came with amfm radio without cassette player. Reason is there were three swithches on the console, one for radio amp, there was not a way to delete this. I have a window sticker for a 84 comp prep and I also have a 84 comp prep and several early models without air. I will post the sticker in my album.

I also have a 5C dark cadet blue 84 svo special ordered by a ford empolyee that worked in the special order department where the SSP cars were ordered in special colors. I have the buck tag and the build sheet conferming this.

Kendal has all the cool cars! :)

Also didn't that March 1 date trigger all new 84 SVO's to come standard with A/C and PW/PL, premium sound whereas the earlier models all of that was optional?

Also did the option 41C include the special spring code on the driver's side door sticker like the later Comp Preps?

I'm looking for a nice'ish 86 Comp Prep by the way....

I going to look at that 86 comp prep on Tuesday. I think I got OCD, like Ken. I can't stop thinking about it. Best part is - I've got all the parts to make it look brand new.

Should I put my efforts into something else?

Go for it, I am sure it will be in good hands when you get it. There are so many svo's out there that have been neglected, the real enthusist needs get these cars.

Keep us in the loop if you buy it or not. If I was local to it, I'd be picking it up I think.....

If you have the parts you definitely need to get it. While my collection is small I've tried to pull together all the weirder of the combos possible.

I still drool over the Aussie RHD SVO and would also like a T-Top. I have a tentative sale working with Chalky on my Barrett-Jackson SVO that hinges on if the owner of the Aussie ever sold it.

I kinda regret selling the 4E since it was one of four produced and possibly one of two 4E comp preps. But since I already have the Hertz in 4E and no 2As I figured what the heck. I still keep the 86 comp prep option and also now the bi-wing delete weirdness issue...

...and the 2A has only 10,210 miles which was the clincher :)

Ken - you got a hell of a deal there on the 2A. It will cost me double to replicate that car and mine will still have 111,000 miles on it and no gatorbacks.

Maybe I should ask Kendal if he wants to sell me the 5C? Oh yeah, it's a 84 and I have 86 parts.:( My guess is that one will be very hard to restore.

Ahh... the fun of it all.:)

You are right on the restoration of the 5c, It is still on the rotisserie getting floor pans and spaire tire well being welded in. It is going to be alot longer project than I thought and more expensive. It is better to buy one like Ken did in show condition.

Yes while my 7B did turn out very nice it was difficult for me having somebody else have all the "fun" of restoring it HAHA. The Hertz will get the same bare shell treatment but that won't happen for quite some time.

I still have the 66 fastback and the Willys to restore / finish. I also have 4 other Mustangs in various states that will take a lot of work. Everything from a complete build from the ground up ( 92 coupe track car project ) to a crate engine install, and two others to get road worthy again.

I'm trying to get to finish line a little quicker these days... :)

Well I passed on that comp prep. Timing.

I'm sure, down the road in a few years, either Kendal or Ken will have a car for me to restore - Right guys?;)

Well Kendal picked up the 4E this morning so it has moved on to yet another owner. I only owned it for about 9 months which is the shortest amount of time I've owned any car. The 2A is supposed to be delivered tomorrow afternoon.
