View Full Version : k-member
I am repainting the engine compartment on my 84 anny 5.0 and was going to take the stock k-member off to clean and paint it as well. I was able to take out the rear 4 15m bolts but am having trouble removing the main 4 bolts on each side above where the control arms attach. I have an air impact hammer with large sockets, but before I do anything, I wanted to check and see how much of a chore this is? Is there a special way to do this?

Not really, just dont let it fall on ya.
A transmission jack would come in handy, if you've got one handy.

I used a breaker bar to break them loose, then I used the impact.

A pipe on the end of a breaker bar will be your friend.

I hit mine with penetrating oil for a couple days. Came back with the impact and at about 120psi they gave up.
