Need to know the proper procedure to tighten up the bearings on the front rotors, I have done it before but cannot remember. Can't find it in my haynes manual either.

New bearings and races also.

Thanks,
Mike

Never mind I got it.

FWIW, I am putting on my 87-93 brakes, will see tomorrow how much it helps. Maybe later on I will upgrade to 73mm units and SVO MC.

I can tell you how I've done it for the past 18 years, I tighten the spindle nut down to approx 25 ft/lbs by feel(not with a torque wrench). I then back off the spindle nut a turn or two, then while spinning the rotor tighten the nut by feel ( yes I know its hard to explain) to approx 5 ft/lbs . Put on the wheel with a couple of lug nuts and check for bearing play. I have done all my wheel bearings this way since I could drive. I have never had a problem with this method. Not sure if you will find this method in a book, but I was taught this by an old timer long ago.

That is pretty much what the book says also. Thanks for the reply.

I was also taught a very similar method by an old timer when I was a teenager. I'm soon to be 40 and have had no wheel bearing problems yet.

Wow, what a difference the 87-93 swap made. The pedal is no longer soft and it really stops now. If anyone is considering this swap I would highly recommend it.

I have been doing this for years on thousands of vehicles with zero problems.

This is the only way to do it man. I've been doing it for years without any problems at all. And it works on many different Fords, not just the Mustang.
