its been a while since i've had my engine aprt and i decided to start up on my engine again. so i cleaned the block and fitted in my cam into my block. now i have a question about my oil pump driveshaft keeper. where does it go?
and are there any design differences between the '85 and '86 blocks?

The little spring washer that sits on the oil pump driveshaft is there to keep the shaft from coming out of the oil pump when the distributor is pulled out of the motor. You can use the shaft with out it. It will be a pain to install it if it ever comes out with the distributor. It usually sits up on the shaft just under the block casting. There should be some clearance between the block casting and the spring washer.
