Yeah i thought it was heat but weird only that side? and in the spot...kinda weird...I thought it was because i have the stock intake still and no emissions stuff at all..and the EGR spacer is gone all i have is a gasket and a phenolic spacer when i took the carb off it burned a hole thru the gasket and that port in the intake was full of black carbon..I think its putting to much heat into the intake, and causing problems somehow...I know i need to put an new intake on didnt get a chance yet...i hope this isnt hurting anything....

maybe the cat on that side is plugged up, and not letting the air out correctly.

could be that the finish baked off and is starting to surface rust. I wouldn't worry about it.

mountain out of a mile hill..it's probably some kinda paint or junk that was on the surface then turned brownish with heat.. an SOS pad should take it off

It is a poor plating spot on the H-Pipe, not to worry about it unless your a bling bling show car

Your MAC H-pipe - like everything else today - was made as CHEAPLY as possible in a chinese factory. Its probably made from 'aluminized' steel - which is a fancy way of saying its a steel pipe with a thin aluminum plating. Im sure they plated it as thinly as possible and some of it just baked off the first few times you ran your engine.

The plating on your H-pipe is just a perfect example of everything in today's world - thin.

if its paint it could be where the exhaust pulse is changing directions causing it to burn off.

I have a 85 gt and want to know if changing the y pipe to a h pipe is worth it. Can you feel any hp gain.

That H-pipe looks like it's painted to me. If it is it's just a hot spot and the paint can't take it. Could have something to do with your desmog too. Perhaps longtubes make a huge difference, but when I switched my completely stock exhaust (with the exception of a hollow cat) out to shorty headers, 2.5" off road pipe, and 2.5" dynomax exhaust I was honestly a little dissapointed. Sure it felt a little better up top but it couldn't be more than a 10 hp gain.

Really well i lost about at least 50-75 pounds of weight you should have seen all the stuff he removed from my car and in the kick panel there is a computer sort of...thats gone all the emissions stuff is gone...The car to me feels alot faster especially upstairs...I raced a newer GT on the highway and i pretty much beat him....i mean i didnt kill him but he knew he was in a race thats for sure....and i have really crappy gears right now too...I think the exhaust helped alot tho..IMO.......
