Just curious if any of you guys are going to the Ponies in the Park Mustang show in Lacey at the end of Sept?

Been thinking about it, but have no plans chiseled in granite. I'll stop in to check it out, if nothing else comes up.
I actually entered it a few years ago, when I had my '85. There was one other four-eye there. Lots of the usual old guys with 60's cars, lots of practically new cars with heavy-duty mods like tinted windows and K&N filters, and a sprinkling of serious show cars. So, a typical Mustang show, IMHO.

The house in the field where I had the BBQ is up for rent. IF I get a new tenant by the end of the month, then I might just wander down that way...with a certain lawnchair in tow...

I've been to plenty of shows, but I've never actually been in a car show (except for the 4-eye BBQ of course). But I'm actually thinking about bringing mine and hanging out for awhile.

I have been thinking of the lacey show myself. It may be good to get the McLaren to stretch it's legs.

There will be quite a few of us from the northend coming as well. Most of the Kidd Valley folks are friends with Mustangs West members who are putting this show on in Lacey. Karena the President has a nice Fox vert and Roush 427R Trak Pak.
I guess we will see you there Bram.

Here's the website for the club putting it on:
http://mustangswest.com/
Link to the flyer is just below the pic on their home page.
Happens on the 28th, Sunday. The judging is a "people's choice" deal, meaning the participants and onlookers vote for their favorites.

It was good. There were only 4 4-eyes there (my 85, Neil's Capri, an 84 GT350, and another Capri). They grouped up with the Mustang II's (there were two of them). At first they didn't want to put Neil's Capri in with us, but Neil was able to "educate" them to the point that they let the Capri's stay with us. Of course there were a ton of new and old Mustangs - 185 cars in total or something like that. The weather was great too. Like Lee said, it was your typical Mustang car show, but it was great to see Lee and Neil. Neil, as ever, was on the hunt for other 4-eye owners...
Several people commented on / asked about the website (they saw the FEP stickers on my car)...hopefully there will be a little spike in website traffic because of it.

It was great to get together and jaw with Neil and Doug in a relaxed atmosphere. As much as I love the annual BBQ, that is a busy day for Neil and I both, not nearly as much time for casual conversation as is needed. We took a long lunch at a Mexican joint (I was driving and had to forgo the usual Giant Strawberry Margarita - rats!), talked and talked about our cars and the BBQ; did some brainstorming, came up with some good ideas for 2009.
And the weather was awesome, esp. after the hot rod show in the same location got rained on last weekend! :p
Best of all, Neil brought me my folding chair. Of course, I'll leave it in his field again after the BBQ next year, in accordance with tradition :slap:

Yea, the GT 350 guy isn't new here, either!
That was my car there.
I would love to see more four eyes show up!
In fact, I will bring a couple of mine next year just to have them there!
Maybe with a little planning, I can put a category together for just four eyes?
I was the guy on stage handing out trophies, I am sure I can arrange adding another class.
What do you think?

Hmmm... the computer says you're new, right under your user name.
Sorry, Joe, no pics - I just showed up as a civilian, no camera, in my pickup, wandering aimlessly thru the crowd.
There's a slide show on the Mustangs West website, but (surprise) it features mostly shiny cars with lotsa bling. In short, not ours. The foureyes were put in a corner behind the Mustang IIs, for Pete's sake. Just one more reason the NW4IBBQ rocks - all foureyes, all day! :evl:

New as in few posts, I guess. Been around here snooping for a while, though.
The slide show was found on Youtube! We don't even know who made it!
We are working on a presentation of all cars that were there.
My friend George took 315 photos and is putting together a photoshow for everyone.
I will post it as soon as it's done.
Total cars registered were 187!

That sounds like a great idea. No offense to the Mustang II guys, but those cars and our cars are just so wildly different...

Usually, those two cars would never share a class. The reason they did was because there has only been one II to show up for the last 3 years.
This year two of them did, and 4 four eye cars did (5 if you count Rob, but he shows in the Police class).
Next year, I am sure we will go back to the '74-'78 category and the '79-86 category.
But, like we always tell people, if you want a class in paticular, contact us about sponsoring it.
OR PRE-REGISTER your car! If we knew who was coming, we would have split it before the show.
I would love to see this turn into a kick off point for the Four Eyed Forum guys! Maybe the show during the day, and a Pizza Feast after?
That would be fun!
And I will have the '84 WSP car on the road by then!

Meneep, since you are in a position to know, what do you think the odds are that we can keep the Capri's with the Mustang in a "Four-Eyed" Class rather than putting the Capri's somewhere else. As you can see, we certainly consider ourselves "one big family" and we did have two Capri's parked with the Mustangs this year. However, I know there was some debate about splitting them up. I would hate to do that, but I can see where some purists outside of the Four-Eyed community would have a problem with it.

Having the 79 to 86 Capri in with the mustangs is a delicate subject. The mustang owners understand that the Capri IS a sister ship, but the show IS about Mustangs, and the Capri's crash their party, and the votes are cast by the attendees, and they are in not in the mindset to cast a vote for a "Capri" at a Muatang show. It is something us Capri owners have learned to live with, I think. Worthy of further discusson at your board meetings.

I just found the slide show on YouTube. I was disappointed there was not a shot of Four Eye there. In fact, there wasn't anything except S197's, SN95's, and the old stuff (I think I saw one Cobra in there). But I am not totally surprised by this.
But that's okay...That just means I'm going to have to shine mine up even more and next time we just need to get a WHOLE MESS of Four-Eyes there to truly represent the growing popularity of the cars. Then they'll have no choice but to put us in the slide show!

I am actually the guy that made the call to put the Capris with the four eyed Mustangs to start with.
I will do my best to keep it that way in the future, too.
I think that these cars are too close a kinship to seperate.
Trust me, when George gets done with his photoshow, there will be plenty of four eyes to see!
And next year, please pre register! I can do a way better job of planning if I have an idea of what is coming!

So what do you guys think?
A category for 'Four Eyed Foxes'?
That would include all Capris, Mustangs, and even LTDs other four eyed cars?
Cheap to sponsor, could even advertise FEF?

That would be sweet but don't forget the svo, thunderbird, cougar, fairmont, zepher, I know there more, but can't put a finger on it.

I think that's a fine idea. I think it would do well to bring attention to this generation of cars to a group of people who may otherwise have forgotten them amongst the Cobra's and Saleen's and Rouches and the like. And you're right; I will definitely will pre-register...
BTW...I'm finally attaching the lone pic that Neil took of my ugly mug and my hardware...

What do you think?
I will still have a car for this category (unless I display with the police vehicles) But, I sold the GT 350 to someone that was at our show and saw it.

I think a group for 4 eye foxes would be fine. I did not mind the drive down, was nice. My goal with the BBQ is to give the 4 eye cars their proper exposure at the present, and as some owners discover what they have, and fix them up, they will start showing up at more shows, and will need their own group. As a side note, did you get the person that bought your 350 to commit to the 09 BBQ??? Gonna have 2 full rows of cars next year.
