New to the forum and thought I'd say hi.

I had a 80 Mustang turbo back in the late 80's to about 94. Always loved that car. I've been helping my dad find parts for his 84.5 GT and ran across this forum.

I've also been eying an 81 4-banger in the classifeds that I'd love to pick up for a daily driver.

Anyone know where I can find the official est. mpg rating for the 81 w/ the 2.3 and a manual? My company is offering a $500 rembursement for any car I buy that gets 35 mpg highway and for some reason I remember that the 2.3 with the stick did. I don't know, maybe I'm dreaming....... :)

Anyway, just thought I'd say hello

Yeah, I saw that ad when I was browsing around the site. The car pictured looks like a turbo version (hood scoop and all) so I wasn't sure what engine package that was advertising.

I also found a chart on the net that shows the different mpg ratings for the different years of Mustang here: http://www.mpgomatic.com/2008/06/24/ford-mustang-gas-mileage/

But it lists the 2.3 manual 4 different places for 1981 and they all have different mpg numbers. They range from 33 to 37. I'm not sure what the differences are. I figure at least one of those is the turbo engine but I'm not sure why there are 4 different ones and the differences between them. Maybe two are turbo and two are without and different rear gear ratios for each? Not sure. Anyways thanks for the welcome everyone and I will try and round up some pictures of my old 80 and my dads 84.5
