x10 :pimp: I know what you mean about sleeper mode....mines the same way, really loud (for now) but I think a turbo should quiet things down nicely till it's time to put the hammer down ;)

How much did you lose in the shop? I'm glad it wasn't the whole car though.

Stripped and primered - looks great!!! More pics at this stage if you have them.

On edit:
I just noted that your car has the holes in the fenders (and presumambly doors and rear wheel wells) for the bodyside moldings. Those moldings will be hard to find in good shape. I actually prefer the F/Zs that have the simpler chrome 'wheelwell only' trim. Those attach to the fenders with screws along the wheel opening inner lip - so if I ever removed them there would be no visible holes. Thats what my 78 4dr Fairmont has, along with the chrome rocker panel moldings - just like the light blue 2dr in the background in this pic (Courtesy Stuarts F/Z site - BTW beautiful P-51D in the background, never seen one painted that color - definately not WWII paint scheme):

Also interesting to note that the 78 Zephyr ES in the foreground (and presumably Fairmont equivalent) had no hood ornament.

But with the holes there on yours already I guess you dont really have a choice. Either way your car will look great.

We got real lucky actually the neighbor above window broke from the heat and they called it in and saved us from the the whole shop going up. But so far i lost 80% of my chrome moldings, my tail lights(almost new), bumpers are ok except the black rubber melted off, dash bored and the seats. The day before i pulled out the plastic interior pieces and the glass to clean them up THANK GOD or else i would be screwed. oh and some under the hood goodies r gone too

Thanks Twr2003:
Ya when i got the car it had the stick on molding and i well probably go back to that. I thought about welding up the holes but its alot of work and i dont wont to warp any metal. and i couldn't imagine not having the hood ornament i think the F is a great touch.

and i agree the paint on the plane is sweet

Here is more Pix http://photobucket.com/Boxtop79 i will add more when all the body work is done

Great pix! The car was originally white - have you chosen a code for the new paint?

yea i have the paint in front of me its Flat black Catalyst 2703black base to be mixed with 2798 flat black catalyst. Its a color used alot on the 50's rat rod style. hope it turns out the way i want this stuff isnt cheap. and its nice cause its only a 2 stage paint!

I've got some of that bumper moulding from the donor. It's so so. And the front bumperettes are solid, but there's a bit of aluminum corrosion.

I have no side body trim from the donor except those rain gutters. Do you want those? I've got the mounting clips, most have been derusted and primed in rustoleum flat or left olive green if they were fine. Want those too?

But let me get to the good stuff. Bumpers! and taillights. There's a JY up here that has one 1982 Zephyr filled up with Zephyr and Fairmont Taillights for sedans. He's got some bumpers too. All aluminum ones. You've got to know that roadsalt is not an Aluminum bumper's best friend in Canada, so they might need more than you want to put in. He sold one to my buddy for $20, with the brackets and absorbers on.

We asked him to hold off crushing because a fellow Fairmont Wagon buddy here wants the dash. My car has the interior seats from that car.

I'll check with him over the weekend and let you know (PM). He's also got 2-eyed and 4-eyed Fairmont and Zephyr Grilles and headlight pots and trim. It's the only car I know of around here, other than an LTD II (Won't part out the car) and an 1983 Zephyr 4-door (Also won't part it out).

LTD II = not Fox Body.

I had a computer (with pics) crash once before ---- and I took it to a computer store ---- and they were able to recover them.

It's worth a try.
