I opened up my 1982 Body, Chassis, Electrical manual to scan in the decoding information this morning, and found the following notations, although incredibly minor, about the legendary Mustang SS:

Flipping around, I didn't see any more notes about it, but I have a couple more 82 model year shop manuals that I'll page through a bit. The printing on this one is Sept. of 81.
