Most imperfections are out and ready for sealer but what grit should I use as a final blocking ? Right now I am blocking with 600 and the primer is starting to have a sheen , is that good or bad for the sealer ? I heard scratch lines can show through the paint so what grit is going to show lines and which ones will not ? i plan on going with 2 coats of sealer 2-3 coats of a single stage bright red and probably 2 clears. Thanks

I have been told by a friend(who does a lot of resto jobs and also used to work as a body man for a classic Vette place)to use 400 grit. The paint has to have something to stick to. You do not want your primer to have a sheen to it. Make sure to clean the body with a prep/degreaser and then tack cloth.

We would use either 400 or 600 grit for primer sanding.

Most imperfections? you need to get them all out. especially on red as it will show up. If this is your first then I would go 600 and dont put pressure with your fingertips but use a block. Sometimes as paint shrinks up as its drying you will pick up imperfections that weren't noticible in the primer
