86 gt interior ? Carpet....dark or light gray

I have the light gray carpet and headliner in my 86 gt that is very dirty and ripped.

Any one have any pics of the darker gray carpet and headliner?

Will it look good?

I never liked the light grey 85-86 carpet. I found some NOS SVO dark charcoal carpet for my GT. I also installed SVO door panels & hatch carpet so everything matches. I left the headliner though. It's vinyl because of the factory sunroof, & looks good.

I DID THAT WITH A 86 I HAD YEARS AGO. I WRECKEED MY MINT 84 PURCHASED A 86 THAT NEEDED SOME WORK I PUT THE DARKER CARPET FROM THE 84 IN THE 86 AS WELL AS THE RUG IN THE HATCH AND THE DOOR PANELS IT LOOKED NICER THAN THE LIGHT GREY I WILLL SEE IF I CAN PULL OUT SOME PICS AND SCAN THEM. I DO NOTHINK THAT GTS CAME WITH DARKER RUGS IN 85 AND 86 I COULD BE WRONG SORRY FOR THE CAPS I JUST SAW THEM

They had 2 different greys in 85-86.

The darker one looks better in my opinion.

There was one "grey" in '84, '85, and '86 ...... Charcoal

I have owned a 84 gt and a 86 gt both with grey interiors and they are clearly not the same grey 84 is a darker and 85 86 is lighter this goes for the seats and rugs as far as headliner I can not remember any interior shop has the books with the material I have had work done on both and the fabrics are different. Hows about getiing some members to send picture in of the 84 85 and 86 interiors I will see if I have some pictures or old brochures. Now how about Canyon Red

If you are buying the carpet from resto 5.0, then the light grey is the closest to the factory grey. I bought the darker grey and also tried the charocoal grey, both were wrong for the 86. Same with the headliner.
