Town Car is a lot wider, I would spend my money on a SN95 or LSC if thats the way you want to go.

Town car also has wrong suspension setup. Control arms are different, and I think spring perches are on top of axle housing.

It would need all the tabs and mounts cut off, and the ends cut off and shortened too. Then you'd have to add all the correct Mustang attachments. You'll end up with alot of money into it, and it wouldn't be worth it.

Just do as KAILUAZ suggested if you want a 5 lug disc brake rear axle assembly that just bolts in. If you go with the SN95, make sure it is pre-'99. The '99+ housings are too wide.

If you are looking to go IRS in your Mustang you will need to get a complete setup from a Mustang Cobra with IRS. The Lincoln setup at least in the Mark VIII's is similar but the only part that is the same is the center section. All the other parts are different and would require much fabrication as already stated. I think a Town Car setup would be an even worse platform to start from.

Remember the TC is a Panther Platform and yes like mentioned it's a wider vehicle. it does have a four link rear suspension though, not just rear disc but they act as drums for the parking brake. If you want an 8.8, 98 and down is your best option. This should be pinned somewhere.
