i removed the column shifter when i installed the 3 pedal assy. ,I installed a new starter, igniton switch and not getting signal to the solenoid.
at the solenoid,i can jump terminals and get the starter to lightly turn over.
im thinking that the neutral safety switch is stopping it from working.

the ignition worked fine when i first bought the car.i replaced the ignition switch 7 months ago.I have not driven the car yet and the damn thing cracked down the middle?!

my question is---where is the neutral safety switch?can i loop it?
is there a rod or something that i need to move around to put it in the park position?

my last ditch effort to get it to start is to put a starter button in the car.i really dont want to have to do this.

HELP!!

The NS switch is normally located on the auto trans.
You unplugged it when you pulled the trans. It's a round connector with I think 4 wires in it on the driver side of the trans. Two are for the back-up lights and two are the NS loop.
On manual cars, all that is done is there is just a loop of wire for the old NS loop. Simple enough.

Chuck is correct in his instruction.

It will be the two red wires that will have to
be tied together.

It's actually pretty much the same on all early Foxes. My '83 was the same way as was the '80 XR-7 when I swapped it to manual.

What did you do about the back-up lights then? They are part of that plug too.

The two other wires on that connector go to the two wires on the B/U lamp switch on the (in his case Tremec) trans. The B/U lamp switch is usually screwed into the side of the trans - at least thats how it is on a T-5. I assume Tremec to be simlar.

I was aware of that myself, but I was asking the OP as he never mentioned it.
