there are a few mustang clubs locally. but what if we could get a rally together next year. west point lake has 5 campgrounds and plenty of close hotels. i think it would be cool to camp and show mustangs at the beach on the lake. you can rent a huge area that is fenced in at the lake at pyne road park. probably even advertise and charge admission. you can make reservations for camping. just like a weekend event. i think it would be fun people from all over could come, have a huge show. camping is $22 bucks and they also have group camping. hotels are withing a 10-20min ride of the lake. just a thought
people would have to spread the word amongst all the mustang sites. i think the beach area can be rented for like 150 bucks. they have volley ball and baseball and restrooms and of course the lake.we used to have our company picnic at that park every year.

I can see Pyne Road Park from my property...I would attend. What local Mustang club do you belong to?

i dont as of the moment. it feels weird to goto a mustang meet with a capri lol. i was approached at falcon field by a couple of members from Tara and they said to come join them in Fayetteville for the cruise ins. I thought that was nice. If 795.0pacecar moves up this way will definately be goin.
I think a rally at the lake would definately be cool though. just a sat/sun thing, or a 3 day.

sorry I havent gotten any notices.
Yes I would like to get going on this. It will take some time to get everything lined out. Sponsors and so on.
The biggest thing I need is help with all the clubs. We need to get an idea of how many clubs are in this area that are interested in coming or willing to help. We have 2 here in atlanta that I know of.
Next question? will this be a mustang/capri only event? I would really like to see this but I am not sure if it would work. If we did a Ford/Mercury event you would definately see a bigger event. I will contact Pyne road park to see how much it would be to rent the park for the weekend. There is camping at the park but there is a public boat ramp as well that will be in use. This place is big enough to hold an event. The army corp of engineers puts on a fire works show every year.
I am looking for help on this from people who belong to clubs to spread the word and see if anyone is interested.
On a side note we can also set up some heads up racing. There is a 1/8th mile strip close by within 20 minutes.
We can also do a cruise up one morning or two for some photoshoots with the P-51. I am checking with phillip to see if they would fly it down to the lagrange airport so its not to far to drive. basically if they do that, they would be asking for a donation per photo to pay for the fuel. They would probably set up a raffle for a flight too. They did at this years event in peachtree city. Take a chance for 25 bucks. It's $950 for 30 mins if you pay for it yourself.
Lets get this ball rolling

First question. What time of the year do we want to do this.
Spring, Summer or Fall. Biggest problem with the lake is holidays. You wont find a campsite during the holidays. You can make reservations up to a 1/2 year in advance.
For anyone wanting to camp the event, There are four campgrounds run by ReserveUsa. The sites range from $16 a night to $22 a night for single lots and they do have a couple of double sites. There is also a couple of group camping areas in the campgrounds. I will get more accurate info on the prices, and the prices for Pyne Road park camping also.
There are plenty of hotels close by as well for all the people that dont like the outdoors.

This is what I would start with.
Mustang/Capri meet at Pyne Road Park.. Lagrange,Georgia

Friday checkin and registration Cruisein at the square

Saturday Checkin and registration till ?time
Saturday Show and jugding starts ?time Awards and trophies given afterwords

Sunday Checkin and registration till ?time
Sunday Show and judging starts ?time awards and trophies given afterwords

Or just do a main show on saturday only. and cruise in on friday and sunday.
If we do a 2 day show I think more people would come. Who knows if it will work.
But my honest thoughts are that we need to do a Ford/Mercury show.
What kind of vendors would people want.
I know food and drink, something for the kids, but what else. I am not sure if summit, yearone, or mustangs unlimited would come, but I am willing to ask them.
I know some people on here know people so lets get this going.

We also need to check into security for anyone wanting to leave the cars inside the fenced corral. I doubt anyone would do that but who knows. (just in case).

I'm interested depending on the time of year.

However, I have one main question outside of the time frame:

Are you looking to keep this a 4 eye only type event or any year mustang? The more I read it the more it sounds like a general event and not 4 eye specific.

The forum I admin does get togethers every year...in fact we are doing one in NY next week even though the only people showing up to it are from Louisiana and Alabama for some reason...

Anyhow, I know a number of our members are from the FL/GA/AL/MS/LA/SC area and would definitely be interested in going to this event. The down side is not many of us have 4 eyes. In fact, I think there is only myself, another member on here, and a guy from Canada that have them.

So, if this is open to any and all mustangs, then I would like to help organize things between the sites and start pushing it some time soon on ours.

If I were to suggest a time, I would suggest late spring time/early summer. Some time right after college finals would be good. I know a number of our members are still in school, so we try to plan around finals as best we can. So, Late May has always worked good for us in the past.

It would be cool to see a Four eye only meet but I dont think it would work.
Yes I am saying all mustang/capri, 64 1/2 - 2009. Not everyone will be looking the Foureyed cars as things of beauty like we do. But I feel there wont be a big enough turnout. That is why I also suggested if there is not enough interest, then make it a Ford/Mercury event. When I goto the NMRA show and shines, there are alot of different vehicles to look at.(variety).

But please pass along this idea to all of your clubs that you belong to.

I agree with spring or fall. Summer is really too dang hot to go and hangout at a car show all day, or to even be tent camping. The only thing bad about may is the closer you get to Memorial day the less sites will be open. Usually everyone reserves the week before through a couple of days after the holiday. These campgrounds are sold out for 2 weeks around each holiday. so it would need to be around the middle and no later than say the 20th of may.
The campgrounds have full ammenities, shower, toilets, washer/dryers, and play grounds for the kids. The park has softball and horse arena, as well as toilets and such but we would probably have to rent some portapottys as well.

When more details become available (time, date, entry fee, etc) I'll see if I can get the XFOA guys to come.

Im hoping to have a capable truck and trailer by then. 40ish miles is a long ride in my rough suspensioned loud ass car lol.

Hey stephen if push comes to shove i can get you a truck and trailer. have both handy if there isnt a race that weekend.
If you can pass the idea along to the Tara club that would be cool too.
Glad to see you made it to PTC. Give me a shout
