Hi all,

Im new to the forums after purchasing a 82 Mustang GL with an Carbed inline 6 and a new trans. Its going to need some TLC though but anyhow onto my question! (the search function wasnt working for me)

Theres no conter console in the car, just the plastic trim around the shifter and the parking brake.

Do anyone know if the later model fox consoles fit in these cars? I miss the looks of a full console thats all. I know some of the early 80's foxes have a full console like the GT's and was wondering what i would need to do to make one fit or if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks all.

Are you talking about the center consol with armrest, dialog display, lighter/ashtray and clock? I think the center consol was an option the original owner didn't want. Better check on the internet. if judging by your screen name you live in the UK it would be easier to get one if you joined Mighty Mustangs. I joined it for euro parts.

Hi,

Well, i was from the UK, now living in the USA. And you hit the nail on the head regarding the center console. I looked online but havent had much luck. I was hoping someone might know here but ill keep searching for sure!

Thanks for the reply.

it was a factory option which some cars required and some were optioned out.. what color is your interior? i would put up a wanted ad in the proper section with your location and see what turns up.. also a wanted ad on craigslist.com would find you something...if you were in western WA state i would give one to ya

Something all Mustang lovers should keep in mind if you live anywhere near a race track, especially dirt. Find out if the track has a message board, and post there looking for Mustang parts. The Fox cars are very popular for use in the mini stock class, and often, they will just give you what you want if you'll take it out. Saves them the trouble, since they strip the cars to begin with, and usually use crowbars, torches and sledge hammers to do so.

I gotten a lot of good stuff this way. I always make a "gas money" donation even if they gave me the stuff. They appreciate it, and it keeps good parts that are getting harder and harder to find out of the dumpster.

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up. Ive been buying parts for my other Mustang from ebay or craigslist. You can get good deals there if you look hard enough.

The only race track in my area is the Chicago Land Raceway.

Remember to check at local wrecking yards. Colour should not matter because you can always paint it? My old 81 Mustang had a inline six and was a stripper,no console. I put in a console from a wrecked 84 GT. Remember the rear bracket under the console it's screwed to the center hump of the floor, you need it.
