HI,
Looking for help on a value of a 1984 GT turbo Convertible. The body is in average condition for the year, all fenders have surface rust and doors are rusty on the inside bottom, with rust on the lower front exterior. The inside is very nice, except carpet. The turbo still works, said to have engine work done, does not smoke, but maybe a little lifter noise. Some other little things, but nothing in high dollars.
What are the thoughts, $500, $1000, $1500, $2000, ????? (I know saving any one is priceless).
Also does anyone know the production numbers on the verts?
thanks

With somewhere less than 4000 TOTAL 84 GT Turbos built, they are rare (no one knows for sure, but there are a few educated guesses as to production #s). As for value; I have seen them go for as little as $350.00 (mine) and as high as about $2500.00, all dependant on shape/options.

The numbers I've seen have the turbo convertibles in the hundreds. Here's the rub. Most people want the V8 or at least have historically, that's why they were rare in the first place. Buy it because you want it, not because it's rare.

I agree with Chris, the numbers for Turbo Verts in in the hundreds. IMO they are worth only as much as someone will pay, which in this economy could vary greatly. There have been a few excellent low mileage examples sell for near $10k and others in the hunderds.

There were 104 anny turbo convertibles and between 412 and 700 of the others made depending on who you talk to or what book you read.

Turbo GTs number much more than 556.
Turbo GT convertibles might be as little at that, but they were made only in '84.

That sounds like the number made in 83 (give or take) according to the top 100 rarest mustang list which I don't put much faith in for accuracy.

Thanks for all the input, and I did take Chirs's advise - I got because I wanted it, $1,400 with the trxs, 10 holes and winter tires. It needs some TLC. Surface rust, and the normal doors and truck lid. One of the back windows goes down but needs helps up. The tranny has noise. But it will be a nice project for my son and I, along with my other 82 Capri project with my daughter. Man, I need to get the garage up ASAP.
It think the wrecked 87 coupe deck lid may end up blasted and painted for it.
When I have time I will try to post pics.
Again thanks for the input, and I am still looking for productions numbers. As when I finally found out my 82 BM was one of 1,369 I started to baby it, a little.

Yeah, I think I read (or made up) that number in 1993 (when I bought the car).
Man I wish I had that one back. It had power locks/windows/air/sunroof/rear defrost and had ZERO rust.
Had to trade it in on a truck, cause IL winters in the country are no place for a Mustang GT :(
Got less than $500 on trade
