I'm all over the place with the project. I bought it as a roller with no driveline with the intent of just getting it running. However, once I got in there, I noticed all of the bushings, brakes, etc. were all old and crumbling, so I decided to replace it all. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) I had shelves full of upgraded parts waiting for another project, so they all found there way onto the 79. Full Bullitt suspension, Cobra/Baer brakes built rear end, wheels/tires, etc. It was ready to drop the motor in (built 347) and our 2nd kiddo came along. About that same time, I bough an 03 Cobra, so my enthusiasm for this project kind of died off.

Then I started hanging around on this board and now I want to return it to stock. :-/ (It had been modded just enough by a previous owner that I didn't feel bad about restomodding it.)

I dunno, I have automotive A.D.D. so now I'm wanting to sell my 03 cobra and dust this project off again. It just needs a brake line or two, some minor wiring and plumbing (return style fuel system w/ electric pump to feed the 347) and install the motor/tranny and it's ready to make some noise. We just moved though, so I have several weeks of just unpacking and organizing the garage before I can do anything. :-/

This thread I'm sure will help my motivation!

Don't return it to stock. It looks better as it is. Besides there are enough stock ones around.

I agree. Keep it modded, you'll have more fun! You'll be getting the "thumbs up" and "cool ride" EVERYWHERE you go when you're all finished with it. That alone will make it worth the effort!

Here is my 1979 Pacecar. The current mileage is over 220,000 miles. I've paced a few events and have won numerous 1st place trophies around Washington State. Most of you probably know how to tell what pacecar number your car is but my car is # 1706. This car was borderlined unrestorable. It had a hole in the roof and a hole in the drivers floorboard. Lots of work but definately worth it. This is a Dearborn assembly plant car with a V8 manual transmission. I just received my Marti Report a few months ago and found out the selling dealer. Great information. I hope you like it. Thanks, Steve

Heres my contribution its a 302 C4 car San Jose Plant built,I lovwered it with eibachs (trimed it a coil in the back to make it more level) gonna do a T5 conversion( c4 tranny is slipping bad!), it has an 85 faux dual exhaust (not cats) 4 barrle conversion (off and 85 gt) got the parts for a 87-93 4 lug disk brake swap and a 3.73 posi disc brake rear from a Tbird turbo coupe that is also sitting in the shed. Interior is not all there (needing the body plug kit before i lay down the trim. it started raining today so the moon roof is leaking! :-( its leaking from the metal guides (the plastic guides that screw to the body)
