Hi everyone- I already posted a hello in General BS-w/pics of the car-but wanted to include something here too since it is a Cobra. I was lucky enough to find a 4 eye that I really liked and it turned out it was a 81 Cobra. I can't say I went out to look for one but I am incredibly happy I found this one. The body is in pretty good shape for the yr-some body work needed etc..interior seat bottoms in the front worn but otherwise good. The 255? is gone-replaced with a 84 302 and a C3 tranny going to a 3.73 rr gear- geared way wrong but still fun to drive! Plus it is a t-top car which I always have wanted. Glad to be here!

Nice and welcome to the site! The Cobras get a lot of love here and your's will be no different. Got any pic's? Also, I've never seen a T-Top Cobra and didn't even know they made them. Was that a 1981 option only?

I uploaded a photo the guy I bought the car from had sent me-my garage is nowhere near that neat.I'm not sure about the t-tops being a 81 only option. Was 81 the first year they were offered?

No A/C, pwr locks, windows etc...So far it has not been a big problem, I imagine that some days will be unbearable but I'll pull out the 99 then. Blacksnake- nice collection of cars. My dad had a Coronet when I was growing up-I've always liked those cars.

If that car would have had A/C, and maybe an overdrive with those 3:73s, I might have bought it. But I was looking for a daily driver, and those 2 things would have killed me, lol. Jason (asheborogn) on here looked at it for me, and drove it I believe. I bought an 80 Corbra from him. He said it was nice.
The Coronet is an R/T, 440/4 speed, ram air hood, 3:54 Dana rear, 1 of 167 known left. I rarely ever drive it, or show it any more.
The GLHS is the fun car to drive. It has the complete Super 60 package on it (305 hp). I've had it to the drag strip once since I've had it. Everyone laughed at it. Guess no one knew what it was. Anyway, very hard to drive. Spun through the first 3 gears. 1st pass 14.20 @ 102. Second pass 14.60 @ 106. No one was laughing after that, except at me, lol.
Keep us posted on the car.
very nice. damn i miss my 80 cobra

Mhhhhh to it sounds like a rare find an 81 Cobra, I believe that there are more pace cars out there than 81 Cobras.
What ar your plans with the car.....

Thanks everyone. My plans-and lack of money-are telling me to just enjoy the car right now. The previous owner has already swapped in a 84 5.0 with a 4 bbl, installed true dual exhaust with Motorsport headers, welded in subframe connectors and a 8.8 w/3.73 gears. Mechanically it really isn't a 81 Cobra anymore but I am enjoying driving it. It revs a little high for me so I have a thread with a lot of good opinions/advice going on in the tech forum. Other than fixing that I want to repaint it and reupholster the seats, swap out door handles ,some weatherstripping etc etc.. ha I guess I might go broke after all!

Nice find. My white '81 Cobra is going to be setup similar. I think I will be going with 3:55's in mine. Mine needs alot more work than yours though.

It's in very nice condition! Good luck with it. It's the only one I've seen with T-Tops. I'm sure there's not many of them!
