Well, my dad and I got a black 79 Cobra to build. Theres tons of pages so I'm just going to link a build thread from another site since it'd take forever to repost them all. I know some will say we shouldn't of pulled the 2.3T but it's gone so don't bother lol. Just figured you guys would like to see another Cobra.
9 pages pics on about every page, enjoy.

too bad those tippmann guys have negative comments, i think it's a work in progress and is gonna be a screamer, what are you doing engine wise? You mentioned woodward so does that mean you're going to be at Neil and Nelson's BBQ this year?

Thanks for the comments guys. A lot of the guys on the paint ball forum don't really know anything about cars so they just go by looks
Motor wise it's pretty much all laid out in that build thread link, AFR Heads, Edelbrock intake. E303 cam, Holly 4 BBL ect.
Progress is being made, put the oil pan on tonight, the bolt kit didn't work though, they weren't long enough so we used some others but forgot washers and lock washers  So one by one we'll just take them out and put them back in.
As for Woodward, not sure what we'll be doing. Probably just cruising around. We originally planned to have this thing done by June but that obviously didn't happen. Once we get the motor in though I want to get it broken in before we do any cruises.

Oh ya, one other thing, I don't think theres really any interior shots in the build link so he's one from when we got the car. We wiped it all down since and it's really clean inside.

Howell area huh? I've got family there; my cousin works as a manager at the Wendys on M96.....rest of his family live in Howell. Rest are in Ionia, Charlotte, and Lake Odessa area...........lots of friends in Hastings.
I shoot a Kingman Spyder myself; got an Electra S with the Empire Barrel kit, 32 degree drop forward with on-off/expansion chamber/spring kit, Evil Delrin Cyclone bolt, and a few other upgrades.

Is that a torque wrench on the floor? What if you stepped on it or kicked it? Oh wait...nice motor...
Black 79 Cobra
06-25-2008, 12:17 AM
It's an old trashed torque wrench. I updated that link, we had the motor all together when I was alerted of something by a member of another forum, we have to have our connecting rods reconditioned for the ARP studs. So I took the motor all back arpart today and pull out the pistons. erggg.

Any plans for the old 2.3?
Black 79 Cobra
06-28-2008, 12:27 PM
The 2.3T was sold a while ago. Along with the 4spd. Only thing laying around still is the rear end that nobody wants to buy since the gear in it is nothing great.

We had ARP flex plate bolts not flywheel bolts. They were too short and stripped. We plan on getting 1 1/4" grade 8 bolts to go back in and make up for the lost thread.

That sure if perdy!! I hope you are taking the shifter off before you stuff it. Also is that RTV on the flywheel bolts? I have never seen anyone use that before. I thought people used thread lock on those bolts.

First off, awesome build so far. All these build threads are making me want to get started on the '81 Mustang I have in the garage.
But I laughed so hard when I saw this:
http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x199/BucketPhoto1234/P1050403.jpg
"Had to take everything off for the plate"
I just did this in my Bronco. Got the engine in and started it. Even drove it around the block only to see the plate sitting on the garage floor as I was putting things away  Its good to know that I'm not the only one. At least you noticed BEFORE it was in the car.

89 AZSSP, assuming you're taking about those flywheel bolts, we put some ARP thread sealer on them since they go into the motor.
