not sure where to put these but figured I'd post them here. I found them when I did a google search and they came up. If anyone has any info about these cars or even if any of them survived. Cause there are some interesting "fox" cars in these pictures.

I'm sure very few if any made it out alive. The one with the # s-21256-4 was made of wood. Most of the others were clay or fiberglass.

+1, I bet most if not all are long gone.

Look around some more. There should be one with # s-21973-12 and a date of 9/23/75. That one looks the most like the actual fox mustang. I have a pic in a book but no way to get it here.

I have most, if not all of these pictures in some form. Have been waiting to get another scanner to put them up, should be getting an inexpensive little scanner soon.

Those would of been some big mistakes. But also I think it was 89 when the ford probe was going to take the mustangs spot. That would of been sweet!

I have pictures somewhere of a Ford Probe concept. At one time the Ford Probe would've been RWD...the concept later apparently became the Sierra XR/Merkur XR4Ti as we know it here in the US.

And you would've later been going "Omg they are making the Camaro FWD!"

LOL, yea but I had a 93 probe GT and loved it. That car in a rear wheel drive with a 5.0 would be a close call between that and a mustang. I really like them both.

It might of been, I would have to look at my book that says it to see for sure, but you could be right!

The Probe GT was supposed to be a replacement for the Mustang. In all honesty, aside from the FWD portion of it, they are pretty nice cars. Better seating up front than the Mustang, they are pretty damn light, even with all power options, and they are pretty damn quick, given the fact that they are FWD. If they had made an AWD Probe GT, it woulda been on like donkey kong playing ping pong with his ding dong.

And then they screwed up the Probe by making it look better, but not having a turbo engine option.

There was a turbo probe....

Finish the sentence :D
There just wasn't an AWD one, and the 2nd gen ones have V6s instead of 2.2 Turbos.

The Probe and Mustang have there advantages and disadvantages. But Ford avoided the hugest mistake in automotive history. Which would have been the dicontinuing the Mustang. But if they did it would have been the end of an era along with change in the automotive world, showing that V-8 rear drive cars are no longer the only source for power. But turbo charged four and six cylinders are. But it never happend so there is no need to speculate about it. The Probe is history and the Mustang is still here.

I've been looking through a ford book I have and there were indeed some cool concepts. One I found was a 1986 Cobra 230 ME. It was a mid engine car with a two wing spoiler that started on the roof. It also had a single windshield wiper. I can't find any pics online though.

I also found a black and white photo of a 1984 FILA edition T-bird. The description says it had white/dark charcoal paint with red and blue stripes. And some color coded wheels to match. Sweet!

here is a picture of jack telnack responsible for many of the late 70s 80s ford cars. Ford's in-house competition for the new Mustang resulted in a leaner design that emphasized aerodynamics. The result was so successful that the production model would end up looking remarkably similar to the winning design.

The Mustang's winning design team consisted of light-design chief Fritz Mayhew and executive director of design Jack Telnack. The team also included pre-production-design executive David Rees and pre-production designer Gary Haas. The shape they evolved was a subtle wedge: slim in front, with the hood sharply tapered from a rather high cowl -- actually an inch taller than that of the Fairmont/Zephyr.

I never had a real "issue" with the Probe (other than maybe FWD) ---- but NOT as a replacement for the Mustang.

Some things should just always exist ---- and Mustangs are one of those things!
