Where Did The Pace Car Go?

I was thinking about the 79 Pace car today and that got me thinking about the other Mustang pace cars. The led me to this thought, where did all the pace cars go. I remember when they selected a different car each year and it was a big deal. It hasn't been that way for awhile. Its been the Corvette six out of the last seven years, and a GM product all the way back to 97. Now I know that since 97 Ford hasn't built many ground breaking cars but come on. In 2001 someone had to have been paid off because it was a Olds Bravada(!), an SUV for gods sakes. And then of course Olds goes under the very next year. 2005 should have been the year of the Mustang. Pathetic.
