car is 8.8 and has dual exhaust now, but i rigged a used 87-up (i believe) soft line mount to the old 7.5 soft line and extended the hard line from car to the top of center of the frame. anyways it leaks (the large fitting on the axle i re-used and its trashed, can't get tight enough. what did everyone use in this conversion??? everywhere i have looked list 86-93 for the soft line (axle to car), and the axle lines and the intermediate all list 84-86 OR 87-93. what are these differences? also is there anywhere to source the braket that attaches to the bottom of the car? any pics of your set-ups will be apprieciated!!!

i have a spare brass block that mounts to the axle via the vent bolt..i would clean your parts up i bet there's some dirt in the fitting. Have someone press the brakes while you look for leaks...good luck and as for mounting i used the stock 82 mount on the passenger side, made an exhaust hanger bolt into a stud to hold up the bracket and ran the soft line to the axle using the brass block..works fine for me but this time around with a turbocoupe axle the soft line is on the drivers side of the axle, so i'm extending the hard line(wouldent you know it, stock mustang and the TC axle use different size tubing..) to the center of the driveshaft tunnel, screwing in the TC soft line mount to the body and only having one connection..minus the splice i have to make at the old location on the passenger side

On my 83 CAPRI, I used 87+ center mount flex hose and installed it on the 7.5 axle. I went to the wrecking yard paid a couple bucks for the bracket off a 88 LX that was smashed up. I took note at the wreckers as to where the location was. I then extented the hard line to the hose. I also ran new axle lines because the original line was mounted on the right side of axle so right line was to short and pre-made lines are fairly priced and there is no messing around with worn line fittings.

are there differences in the threads on the fittings? is it standard double flare on the 87plus lines? i wanted to go to the yard today, but, well i am lazy. also the pic in cj looks like a banjo bolt

When I got the bracket from the wreckers I had the yard man cut the line at the axle,so I got the bracket with the part of the line which had the banjo bolt. The photo does not show, but the new line should come with the brass washers or sealing rings as some people call them. I'm not certain but FORD may still offer the banjo bolt as a service part? I,m sure it souldn't be too expensive if they still service that part?

so the hard line on the body has this female side of the banjo bolt? i guess i could order the intermediate line (34.95) and make that work. no pics on cjponyparts website of the line though.

Man I wish I had a picture.I hope I explain this right, bare with me. The hard line is a standard male fitting,3/16".The banjo bolt goes through the block of the rubber line and then through the bracket. On the top side of the bracket is like a nut for the banjo to thread into. The hard line (male fitting)then threads into this. I would have to jack the car up but I doubt I can get a good picture because it's almost a hand width between the bracket and the cross frame where the hard line goes into it. I can attempt it tomorrow if I get out to the shop. The snows finally starting to melt around here.:D

Kinda get the idea,a little blurry. I had to bend myself around the axle and tail pipe. You can see the hard line going into the nut, well it's like an adapter. It's a brass piece that clips to the bracket, the clip is a standard hose clip or horseshoe clip.
