Car is an 85 with duraspark. i know the pigtails are different, but i have like 3 fender mount coils from my other 85-86's, can this be used, does the ballast resistor come into play with this?

There were 2 cars at the NMRA show area that had efi coils with a carb set-up.

I would rather use the round one that mounts on the engine as it will free up engine bay space, was just wondering if it will work.

the e coil puts out a stronger spark i would use it if you can figure out how to wire it up

same wiring to both:
red/green = key on power
green/yellow = tach (-) signal
i just dont want to hurt anything, because i know the 4v/duraspark cars used a ballast resistor to drop the voltage to 10 volts on the green/red wire at the coil...will this have any effect?

I'm running a stock replacement EFI coil with mine right now, but i'm not using a Duraspark. It runs like a champ.

I've run the EFI coil with my complete MSD Ignition system. Been fine for 11 years now.

But again, should you use an efi coil with duraspark box?- thats what i was asking, as i cant really buy an aftermarket ign system yet, just dont wanna mismatch things.

3 cars i put together are all running Duraspark w/ EFI coils.
ones been running for 6 yrs now. nothing fried. the ballast
resistor only comes in on the start position anyway. it gets
bypassed in the run position.
