Hey guys,

local guy built this motor and seems to be pretty experienced, two seasons of racing on it. Sounds like I can get it for $1500 more or less complete. Would like to throw it in my '86 notch which currently has a bagged EFI '93 302. Planning on keeping my EFI set up.

Specs:

For Sale: 5.0(302) Ford racing engine
Balanced and blueprinted,
10 to 1 compression ratio, built to run on pump gas or propane.
Built on a 1991 truck roller block-std. bore, Ford HO forged flat top pistons with big flycuts, moly-filled rings, ARP rod bolts
Full head and main ARP stud kit with windage tray modified for truck or fox pan
hyd. roller Comp cam with 230/236 dur. @ .050, double roller chain and gears,
Peak power at about 6200, good for street/strip and NO2 - idles good.
1969 351W heads with heavy pocket porting on intake, full porting on ex.2.02 and 1.6 stainless vaves triple crane springs with steel retainers, screw in studs and roller rockers, guide plates.HV oil pump, chrome moly drive, windage tray
28 oz. balance, but extra crank is avaiable for 50 oz. balance.
Has 2 seasons at Thunder mountain since last assembly, no street miles

I was thinking of going 351 but since this motor is ready to go and still seems to have lot's of life left I thought it might be some cost effective motivation for my car. Any estimate for HP with the specs? Good deal for $1500?

Thanks!

Should mention too that the plan for my car is primarily street use.

350ish............................ I would buy it. Ask him the HP on the motor or did you already?

I wouldn't want a street motor that has peak HP at 6200 RPM.

Looks like a decent street motor. It will probably make 275-300rwhp through a t5 and maybe able to bust out high 11's in a coupe. I would definitly run 3.73 or 4.10 gears though. Its hard to tell how it will cruise under 2000 rpm without full cam specs. Either way this motor would definitly make your car fun on the street. I think the price maybe a little high. Might want to try offering 1200.

6200 rpm is pretty low. Most stock bottom end 302's with afr 165's and the right cam can spin higher then that and still have great low end.

Was thinking of throwing in a lesser offer

Motor was used for 1/8 mile racing in a 1st gen rx7 chassis. 1/4 mile runs with 150 shot of spray were low 10's...apparently the spray made up for the high elevation of the track.

I wouldn't touch it. In a street motor, when do you expect to see 6200 rpm? I may be wrong but I don't think roller motors were in trucks until '94 (just sounds fishy). I would just do the 351.

As far as 11s with 275-300 horse that just sounds a little too "bench race" for me.

Thatīs only 500rpm more than my engine, but i have 500nm torq at 4000rpm

Don't fear RPM. Cleveland guys spin theirs past 8,000RPM on the street. 6200 is relatively low for peak power. See what the rest of the powerband looks like. If it's nice and flat, then it'd be great for a street application.

When you say two seasons how many passes do you figure that is? I would be a little hesitant to buy a motor that has done nothing but run at wot with spray. I know some motors can do it all day every day but you never know. Just my.02.
