I can't find out what weight of fluid I need to use in my 7.5 rear and my SROD 4 Spd?
thanks

i run 90wt in both, but i have since tossed the SROD in a non-driver stang. BTW are you aware of the "proper" procedure to get a SROD into reverse? while in neutral and stick to the left, push straight down on the shifter and move it left and up..I wish i read the manual and found this out sooner, it would always take me as much as a few minutes to find reverse(by find i mean jam and smack the shifter)

I would bet you that you really have a RAD transmission. That seems to be what was installed behind the 2.3T in '79-'81. Check the tranny id tag and look for RUG or RAD in the first part of the id. RUG is the SROD tranny. But both of those trannys use according to my factory service manual ESP-M2C83-C which is 80wt gear oil.
The 7.5 differential uses ESP-M2C154-A which is hypoid gear lubricant.

Thanks for the info. I haven't been underneath to check out the tranny yet so I will look for the tag.

to correct myself i run 80-90wt oil, not straight 90...but i doubt it makes a difference and same for the axle, they sell a special hypoid gear oil but i dont think i've used it..

Looks like my only choice here is to use royal purple. It covers GL-4 and GL-5 specs.
Everything else the sell on base is for GL-5.

My Capri tranny has that pattern, but I don't have to push down to get into reverse. It is "4 speed w/overdrive" and overdrive is far right and down.
I hate the way the dang thing is so stiff when cold. Chilton's says that Mercon or Dexron may be used in the "ET 4 speed" in cold climates, or if shifting is stiff. My question - what is the "ET 4 speed?"
