I have a 1990 351w from a crown vic. rebuilt to factory specs . I am planning to do following and wondering if it makes sense.
These are parts I have sitting around.
I am putting on lightly ported 96 explorer gt heads
1.6 rockers with choice of two cams
one is a comp 292 h with Rhoads lifters or a comp he282hr with roller conversion .
Also a Weiand Stealth Manifold #8023
Edelbrock 600 carb or Holley 650.
PBM 3100 valve springs 1.46 od single w/damper Max lift .600"
110# @ 1.800" and 275#@1.250"
BBK shortie headers with Mac Hpipe and 2 1/2 cat back

The roller cam is better, but those valve springs won't make it with the roller.

I am running that cam 292h in my 86. Vic Jr heads. Has BBK LT 3 inch X and 3 in Magnaflows. Here is how she sounds. Idle is around 1300.

I will say this the 292 is not all that street friendly. You got to keep her above 2k cruising down the road. If your going to be driving this alot on the street the 280H is real nice.

Even with Rhoads lifters?I thought that would make it tamer on the street.
82 mustang -What makes your combo much wilder?
I'm looking for 350 to 400

i guess it isn't THAT much wilder, it was like 2AM when i wrote that lol... I have a 670 holley street avenger, a XE268 comp cam going in, stealth intake, heavily ported GT40 93' cobra heads, 1.6RR's, and soon .040" over forged pistons with some real compression numbers. I'll be tearing the motor down again for the project notch and fixing the bad #8 rod bearing(probably needs a crank) and putting in the new cam and anti pump-up lifters, good luck with your build and might i ask what your motor build budget is? i somehow did mine with a full rebuild kit(cast pistons) for about 1,000

I have about a 2,000 budget plus what already is listed. Looking to maximize what already have, sell off what won't work right and get the right stuff.
Would like a set of 185 AFRs with about 10.0 compression when done.
