1. Both of the struts you have listed won't fit a 79-86 running the stock suspension. If your running 87 + spindles, they will work fine.. if not the struts mounting flange will be to narrow for the stock spindles. KYB has a different part number for their 79-93 GR-2

2. GR-2's suck, they are extremely harsh, Your better off buying one of the other million brands of struts. (Yeah, I really dislike mine)

Sorry i forgot to mention. Yes i'm running sn-95 spindles. I didn't mind them. My neighbor has them and i liked them. I also have the KYB AGX adjustables on my '91 so i thought i'd try the GR-2's.....

KYBs suck, PERIOD! Save your money and get some quality shocks/struts. You'll be happier in the end. I have the GR2s on my 86 and it rides like a covered wagon. I personally would buy Gabriel red ryders before ever purchasing another set of KYBs

I bought mine from summit. And they really suck. I never thought something sold as a replacement shock would ride so harsh. I'm hoping to be able to spring for bilsteins once I do the 87 spindles and 11" brakes up front.

I think mine kyb gr2:s were fine, not bad ride at all at road but not good at track so i am going bilstein coil overīs.

Had KYB AGXs for a while...rode as bad as the SensaTracs that were on it...no matter what the "setting."

I have them on my LTD LX. You're better off spending the money on Konis....

anybody want to sell me their "too stiff" KYB's? right now i'll settle for anything aftermarket, heck even a good working stock set would be nice

I don't think that they are too stiff, they just don't bounce back smoothly

More like a harsh ride... Compared to the Koni yellows and reds on my 85 GT. The KYB's will knock your insides around. lol...

Also, I have a set of salvage yard found KYB AGX shocks on the back of the LTD LX. They were better than the KYB Whites that were on there. But... still had have a hard ride. Coarse, the LTD LX also has 650lbs non-progressive springs up front and 275lbs non progressive springs out back.

So, if I wanted a nice soft ride, because I'm getting old and all..

Reds?

Good question that I'd like to hear opinion on as well. I've been thinking Tokico 3-way adjustables or Koni reds myself for my old "whanna stock cushy type ride" self.......

no, smoothness in shocks/struts is vital to get good ride AND handling. The smoothest car that I have ever driven was a Lotus

reds? no thanks, I don't smoke any more

Really, any Koni is better than KYB. But yeah, Reds Front and back. Only issue I have with the red I have is that you need to remove them to adjust them.
