and they are expensive too new. I just bought a wrecked 82 and pulled the motor with brackets. The brackets as i checked will be like 60 or so. everyone suggests later year convertible motor mounts. stiffer stronger and more durable. also i believe i priced em to be only 30 or 40 dollars. also they eliminate the need for the biscuit mount and the entire bracket.

ok, so, what year 'vert mounts? also, I may have a lead on a set of solid mounts for 40.00, any reason they wouldnt work?

Just FYI-- My '83 is an ealrly model (January) so I share a lot of the '82 parts. I tried a set of later vert mounts and a set of solids supposedly for 79-93. No luck! I could not get the block to sit all the way down on both sides. I ended up having to re-use my old mounts and use a torque link to reduce motor movement. Seems some guys can use any mounts, but early '83 and older might have fitment issues.

I have the same issue with my 81. Solid 79-93 mounts and they dont sit all the way down on the mount pads. I am planning to grind the slots a little deeper and see if it will sit flat like that.

I took the locating tabs off later mounts and used them on my 81 with no problems.

i use universal 79-93 solid mounts on my 82' with no problems. They did lower the motor though which i wasnt prepared for and didnt really care for either...

NOt sure why they dont sit right on the early cars, been a while since I've owned an 82... but the convertible mounts will make your engine sit lower than the standard 87-93 mounts. You should be able to fit the regular 87-93 mounts in, however from Ford the convertible mounts are quite a bit cheaper.

Alright, have the proper mounts..but before I actually pull the motor...what is the bracket that it atatches too on the motor called? The motor I am putting in has a broken bracket..at least I think it's a bracket, it's an 87 motor with the diferant/2 piece style mount, do I need anything else, is it safe to just use the ones on my current motor?

would love to find a good diagram on the net somewhere..

THIS!!

even with the right mounts, it was off by about 3 in. on 1 side or the other..but my k-member has a hole right behind the sloted mount fitting (which according to my manual is in a licolb continental, only)..and they fit there, but ONLY if you swap the driver/passenger side bracket+mount combo... strange, but its in now.
