I am looking for a couple upgrades for the front brakes on my 80 RS turbo Capri. The car is a lite weight street strip car so I am not looking for larger brakes. I am looking for a good source for braided lines for the front because my stock ones are rotted out and with manual brakes it should give a better pedal feel. I also wanted to know what the difference was between the 1980 rotors and the 87+ rotors. I found some drilled rotors for an 87 lx and wanted to know if I could use them without any other mods on My Capri. Thanks Reeve.

No you can not use the 87-up rotors on your car. They have a bigger diameter and I think use different bearings. To use those you would have to upgrade your spindles. Mike

The 80 brakes are even smaller than the 87+ 4 cyl brakes which are the same as earlier 80's v8 brakes. I don't think any of the parts will interchange (calipers not positive on) but I know the rotors don't and I cant imagine anybody would bother making any kind of performance rotors for them. On my 81, I just swapped the 87+ V8 spindles, rotors and calipers. I have done the same thing to most all cars I have owned that had the small brakes. Unless you are keeping the little brakes for the sake of absolute originality or wheel clearance, I probably wouldn't waste any money on them. Braided lines, performance pads and drilled rotors will far outcost finding the later setup and they will still heat up, warp and make your sphincter pucker in any kind of panic stop situation.

Thanks for the quick response I will stick with the stock rotors then. The car stops no problem from 110 mph with stock brakes in the front and Turbocoupe rear discs with no power assist. I guess I will go with just the braided lines on the front to make the pedal feel as firm as possible.
