According to this guy, there were only 435 GT Turbos made in 1984. If that is the truth, then they must have only made about 20 w/t-tops. And there are two in my area, wow. Maybe I can sell my rust bucket of a GT Turbo w/t-tops for mad money!!!

Seriously though, where do people come up with this stuff. Five minutes of research and he would find out the there was more like 4000 made(I don't know the exact number off hand). They are rare yes, but not as rare as he it thinking. Maybe he meant to put a 0 between the 4 and the 3 to make it 4035.

He is confusing the Turbo GT with 84 1/2 GT-350 Anny Turbo models of which they made 400 and change of.

1984 turbo hatch's 3,241 But if you break it down by body color or interior color like some do they become more rare.

Ahhh so, that would explain it. It actually could be an Anny, the car has a 85/86 bumper and has obvisouly been repainted. I don't know enough about decoding to tell if its an Anny from the VIN.

I don't think so, wrong interior and almost all had vins ending in 17**** except for a handful that had very low 18**** or high 16**** vins.

ANY production numbers you see for Turbo GTs, either for convertibles or hatchbacks, or both combined, has NO verifiable source. I can tell you that I have seen neither 435 nor 3,241 published anywhere. Those are new to me. Closest to those two numbers is the oft-published, yet still unsubstantiated, 412 for convertibles and 3,386 for hatchbacks, or 3,798 combined.

According to The Official 20th Anniversary Mustang Website & Registry there were 466.

The ascMcLaren guys get this constantly. Auction after auction people spout all kinds of numbers.

And its not like the numbers are not published or anything either! People just hear a number and glom onto it or simply make them out of thin air!

Somewhere between the term "turbo'd" and a fuzzy pic, a pic with a glaring sun over-taking the vehicle and a pic at night and I was done with this ad.

Bad pics make me nervous. If I'm not going to take a road trip / plane ride to see it in person, I want to SEE it in the pic ---- and this one just didnt qualify.

Next.

That number was from the fox-body mustang recognition guide.so IT IS PUBLISHED that dosent mean it is correct. but it is not just a number off my head.

Oh goodie...another "production figure" from the FBMRG. Let's wait until Marti Auto - which got their information directly from Ford - gets done with every year so we can see just how wrong each of those published figures are.

if its just the timing to make it run, why doesnt he set the timing and make it run, so he can say it runs in the ad?? its not hard to set the timing on that engine. infact it should take no more than 5 minutes.
