was thinkin about getting some steel plates (2). i wanted to use them to place my capri on stands, under them, on some broken pavement (old slab garge is gone, broken and uneven) i am NOT welding on the car, just want to have the stands on some flat surface w/o risking sinkage. thinking of same thickness as the plates they use on road construction (temporary). i know it sounds ghetto but this is all i have right now to change the rear. imagine one under the front and likewise on the rear. can i get this at a local metal shop?

You should be able to get them at a metal shop, as they order from a larger steel distributor. As long as they provide a solid base, I don't see you having a problem with them.

They are going to be heavy and expensive. You may need to borrow a backhoe to move them around, :D

Get some 4x8 sheets of OSB plywood. Less than 10@piece and will work well for short term.
