If you don't know what you want, we can't make your mind up for you. Personally, I've had both, and I would really miss the right arm rest.

My opinion.....
race= delete
enjoy street cruising= keep it
Get the cool cup holder that fits in the ash tray. I have one in my 89 LX and love it, holds my Starbucks nicely.

I say not to go with the delete, and send it to me! LOL I will do something in that direction when I replace my carpet again.

I use a "different" kind of cupholder-not that you asked me, I'm just a pic whore.
Note: please ignore the tape player-and yes, it is still in there.

Ah! Someone else who thought the clock panel would make a great place for gauges. I haven't done mine yet, but I will. The clock doesn't work anyway, and my aftermarket radio has one to boot.
The only thing I would miss about that cluster is the "low fuel" light, and I have an idea about putting a tiny LED on my fuel gauge, and hooking it up to that circuit.

I'd say go with the delete, but I'm a little biased towards less

i love my console for the little "crap box" where i put my screwdrivers and window rag/carb vacuum springs which is also a nice armrest. I havent driven a delete car more than a few minutes, but in that time my right arm had to place to rest on.. Console FTW! but for looks only on a show car, console delete FTW

My car was a delete car until I put a console in it.

the console makes the car feel more compleate...when I put the 86 back together, I plan to make a roof console

There was no "delete" option for the console. A car either had it as standard equipment, or it was an option to ORDER it.

I say go for the delete. It's definitely more rare.
My GT has a console and my LX does not. At first I didn't really like it, but it grew on me. I found a mint one for my LX, but decided to keep it original. I didn't want to cut up the carpet either. The only thing I miss is the clock.
Plus, I've always hated that stupid little car diagram! That's why I modified the panel on my GT. I had an SVO switch panel there, but I changed it and added this last year:

I say go with the console. Theres a reason so many people opted to go with the console. I would sorley miss the armrest and the extra room for CD ext.

Here's the cup holder in my former DD '88 LX. Fits very snugly in the ashtray opening.
