Chris, I know that your V-8 '80 Cobra is for sale and I'd LOVE to own it. It's too bad that my daughter hasn't reached driving age yet, or I'd be calling you tomorrow to make a deal. It's exactly what I'm going to be looking for in 4 years when she gets her driver's license. I want something that needs minimal work, that I can keep stock (one modified one is enough) but that she can take to the cruise nights with me until we make it show quality. Enjoy that baby if you don't sell it!

Yeah, I'm going to leave it for sale for now but I know how hard it was to find one in that shape and color combo and how hard it would be to find another, so I won't be too upset if I have to keep it. It drives like a dream, and with the torque even though they aren't but 118 hp, they really don't feel too bad. Its enough to get around in traffic and feel ok. I'm going to enjoy it, and its a great part of my collection. I really need to get some re-touches done on the Turbo car and get a photo op with them. And one of these days we are going to stage a "race" between my V8 and Bo's '80 Turbo. Both are completely stock, so it will be interesting to see who is faster, though both are almost 30 years old now and getting tired. By the way, the feeling is mutual, I love your cobra as well. I have to admit that your cobra is built like they should have been all along. I've got another Cobra in the works... it will be EFI 302, Supercharged, 5 lug, HIDs, the works but appear stock outside and in. Just some tasteful upgrades. Trying to decide what 5 lug wheels would look best on our cars.

How did you do that to my pics Pete? I've tried before to do them other than attachments and it didn't work.
I knew that you were going to ask that! LOL!:D Your car needs to be seen without a link!
What I did, was "right click" on the picture and a window opens up. I then "left click" my mouse and wave it over the until it highlights the entire URL in Blue. Once it's Blue, I right click again and select COPY. I then go to my post and right click again and then select PASTE. Then they show up. One thing you have to make sure, is that a bracketed code must be used at the beginning and the end of your URL to make it work.
This one precedes it:
This one is after it: [/url add the other end of the bracket here. (I can't do it or it will not show up in the post.)
You can also use www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) to upload and host your pictures from your computer. It'll automatically resize them, so that takes one step out of the process. You can then copy/paste from there instead of foureyedpride's site (which I don't believe can be linked to other sites), but the photobucket site will allow you to link/post those pic's on any site. It's also FREE!

I figured I'd saturated this forum with pics of the real thing so I thought I would go with a model I built to look just like my first Cobra. I have two other kits just like it unbuilt, one still in the wrapper. E-bay for 15 bucks. I also have the Monogram version that has the orange decals. So, I will be able to build one like my white one.

You talked me into it. I'll show you some stuff I haven't posted up yet. First is a close-up of the area around the turbo. Next is a shot of some of my Cali emissions. I have an additional electronic control box not pictured that would probably be very difficult to replace if it ever croaked. 919 is written in various places in different colors all over my car. This one is in the passenger inner fender well. Next are before and after shots of the interior. Even though my car only has 35k on the clock, the interior was baked by the sun on one side from sitting in a carport for so long. I never did get shots of the interior before I started work on it though.

This is a Cobra I recently pickud up in Switserland.
The former owner told me that the car was actually assembled in Switserland, the front and rear spoiler are original at this car.
After a month ownership I sold it to someone in Belgium.
The car was rust free and very well maintained, maintenance books all included.

This is a very confusing Cobra! I will step out on faith and say that I don't believe Euro-Ford ever built any Mustangs. The door sticker calls it an export. The build date is June of 79 so I question what year it is really tagged as with the export time. Is it an 80 with a 79 hood? Or is it a 79 with an 80 front air dam and rear spoiler? Me thinks it is a 79 that somebody added 80 parts to. When was it repainted? Could we have more pictures?????

Look at the interior pic... I see no door handle up top, must be down below in the carpet area on the door.

I would say it's a 79 with the front air dam added... or since it's a June 79 production build did Ford make a change with the doors and use the 80 doors on late 79's?

I think 79 was the only year with the handles on the bottom of the door. Looks to me like a 79 with an 80 air dam. Was the rear wing available in 80 also?

Yep, '80 Cobra should have door handles up top, a wing on the hatch, air dam, and a cowl induction style hood scoop.

Ford Europe did assemble Mustangs, they did already in 1966.
In the early days they even got their own VIN number.
http://home.planet.nl/~mustangmail/mystang.html gives an example of a Mustang build in the Netherlands.
Here is the prove of Mustangs buils in other European counties http://www.hammar.dyndns.org/~mexmust/regnl.htm
I bought the red Cobra in Switserland at a car dealer that bought the car from the original owner.
He knew the car from new on and he told me that the car has been delivered new including both spoilers.
They are used also on a 1979 Pace car.
I asked him why Switserland had so many American cars, he then told me that a lot of us cars were assembled in Switserland.
Switserland is not (and never was) part of the European union, the country is neutral from the second world war of.
This is the reason why they assemble a lot of American cars I think.
The Vin tells you it was defenately a 1979 and not an 1980 Cobra

Finished in Switzerland, much the way Shelby finishes a Mustang. American cars need modified before they can pass inspection and be driven on European roads. The vast majority of the car is assembled in USA.

If you can score a newer f/i turbo 4, that would be a good way to go compared to the carbd version. That is what I am hoping to do to mine since I think I have one found for a good price.

Here is the only picture I have of my old 79. It was in great shape (well I did blow the trans and turbo out) with mint interior. It had a sunroof and even had the bag to put the glass in when you take it out.
It was my first Mustang and man I should have kept it!! I think I paid like $800.00 for it back in 1990.
Sorry for the horrible picture, but like I said its the only one I have.

hissing cobra, do you have the picture of your cobra going on an on-ramp with a bridge and the horizon in the background? I need a new desktop.
I thought I had one but I couldn't find it. I know that Jeff (Capriman86) has some nice pictures of my car in front of the Bourne Bridge (separates Cape Cod from the mainland). If you PM him, he may be able to help you. Sorry!
