When you have an email address in your profile that you can no longer access, or has expired because you've changed ISPs or employers or whatever, it bounces emails back to the admin account for the site when the board tries to tell you that you have a PM, a thread subscription update, etc.
It also means you can't change your email address yourself. In order to update or change your email address in your profile, you must still have access to the OLD address.
After receiving bounced emails for a user, I am banning the user until they send me an email updating their email address for their account. Once that happens, the ban will be lifted and everything will be back to normal. Yahoo addresses are not allowed for updates, either.
