TurboBeater

Well, mine isn't an RS. Used to be a 3.8 automatic.
Isn't field registration like $50 ??? I seem to remember it being kinda pricey.

My ears were ringing. I KNEW I was being talked about somewhere on here. Just had to find it. Basically, I want to take the Capri in the worst way, but I don't know if I trust it to get that far to be honest. I'm still having some glitches with it and I don't want it to crap out on me on its way there. Charles, are you planning on going now? Let me know so we can coordinate this. Maybe I'll at least clean up the Mustang and take that. Who knows.

the furthest I have run the car since it's miracle conversion is about 15 miles one way. I don't trust it on the highway yet is the biggest factor. The last thing I need is for something to die while I'm out doing 55 on the highway. That the other thing, I am having fuel control issues above about 45mph or 3000rpm. It leans out and falls on its face. I am going to rejet a Pinto carburetor someday and get that on and hope that solves the issue.

Hey Guys, my son and I have made it to Harrisonburg, VA today, so only a few hours more to Carlilse, tomorrow. Had a few dramas on the way. Lost a rear tire, no biggy, right? Wrong, not many places have 265x15's just sitting around. Man, I hate how hard it is to get a 15" tire these days with any size to it. The loss was not even that bad, had a valve stem come loose and wore out the inside of the tire. So had to spend the night in Birmingham, AL last night. Anyhow a much better day today. Here are some pics of the Aussie Landau Falcon hardtop we are driving. It is one of three in the US, a work in progress having just gotten a new motor, AOD and whole new rear end with 3:50's. Been sorting out bugs along the way. Just hate have one non matching tire now and with the vibration of the tire going down, lost the front left fender indicator lense. Not an easy item to come by in the US let alone in Australia, these days.
Anyhow, any of you guys at the show, be sure to look for me, I will for sure be checking out all the Fox cars.

Chris i think BFGoodrich should have a vendors display. You should be able to get the right tire.
Hope the rest of the trip goes well.

I will get with Toni at the show grounds in the AM to talk about the parking deal and our tent. I honestly do not know where we will be parked. They actually in the past have had an Aussie Ford grouping, not sure this year.

thanks Rich, that is a great idea. Only thing is we are really tight on space, it would have to go home in the back seat. We did get a 265 tire, just it is a Cooper, not a BFG. The tire store in AL is holding my old tire for me to p/u on the way home Sunday. I am thinking of putting it on a spare 10" Aussie Globe rim, as a spare to even carry in the trunk for that car. But long term, I am going to want another BFG tire.

no, not in the building. a friend with a John Goss Special will be in the building, though. Super nice clean care, one of 260.
guys, we made it to Carlisle in good shape. For those looking for the AU cars, will be in the row right behind the white brick building where the car wash station is. Should be 4 AU cars here and one in building T.

Was there yesterday with Charles (PEXTOR) and met up with some friends of ours at various places there. One friend of mine has a digital thermometer and it was reading 97 degrees in the shade. It was a hot day. I did get some good deals on parts over in the vendor section. It was a good show this year.

Yea, I was there on Saturday too. It was cooking. Lots of great old fastbacks with Cobra Jet engines and new Cobras, saw 3 GT's, Cyclones, you name it and it was there, except the Capri's.. I only saw 2 Pace cars and about 6 to 7 other four eyes of various years and a group of SVO's. Where were you Capri guys?

To all my fellow FEP members .Glad to have met the ones I did that came to say hi, But sadly this was my last year to vend at this event, due to the patrons and vultures wishing to buy my parts for little or nothing. I laid out money I barely had to provide a service to my fellow collector and street-car people, and to show for my effort after expenses I had a 20 dollar bill to show for 3 days. If you all want parts drop me a line I'll see what I have.

Just hang onto those parts. They will only keep getting more rare until people get the hint.

06-09-2008, 05:30 PM
Agreed. All the parts I got were a great deal and I didn't even think to haggle over the price. It's a shame when you give someone a good price and then they want better. I was looking for your spot, but Charles and I must have missed it. We wanted to stop in and say hello. Oh, as for parts, got any 2.3L parts???

Ethan, I have a whole dual-plug 2.3 here complete from oil pan to throttle body you come and get it. dont bring a chain or a crane got it all taken care of.
yours 20 bucks
ethangsmith
06-11-2008, 07:23 AM
That's a great deal and I would come and get it, but the dual plug setup won't work with anything I have. The block is different and the head is different. If it was 4 plug, I would be all over it! If you've got any other stuff, let me know. I don't know why I never got notification that you posted up on here. Odd.

that would be an XBGT owned by Mark Scarcelli. He and Leon that owns the ram air prdts team up a bit at Carlilse. Mark ended up parking with the rest of the AU's on Sat.
Talking with Leon, he mentioned how the buyer traffic was way down. The show protion looked awesome to me, as far as cars being shown. But, most of my friends that were selling, we pretty disappointed.
I did make it back to the Capri area, dang, how is anyone supposed to find the cars all hidden way in the back 40. I think the only way around that is to maybe put together a group for a club event, get at least 25 paid entires and they are good about giving the club a tent to hang out under, and man, that was needed on Saturday.
