Hey guys, it's been a while since we've done anything....Lets have another meet!!!

I have several ideas.

1. my house as usual for a bbq (although it may be nice to do something different)

2. Meet at the local bbq place where they have car shows in the parking lot on occasion and eat some bbq food, maybe go on a small drive afterword

3. go to marks house in yucca valley (you out there mark? :) )....I need to pick up an intake/carb from him anyhow.

4. Meet at the track...I know fontana is having an event in the near future

chime in all, everyone who can drive to this area is welcome to come!

I'm not much help here since any and all sound fine to me. It's a long haul for me so as long as I know where it's at, it's all good to me. I think having it at someone's house is good for the community work on someone's car thing.

Ditto; I'm always very flexible and I can help in just about any way or manor needed. I vote for you're place Jeremy because it is so central to all of the "regulars" whom we know love to attend.
( Except for one a-hole whom happens to be having a good time in Vegas I hear!)...... Not to mention a garage, garage with excellent stereo & video capabilities, garage fridge we fill with beer, a sloping driveway that strikes fear into anyone trying to put the entire car up in the air on four jack stands (unless we've had enough of previously mentioned beer & forget about that little detail).....;)

I am up for my house. Being as I am out of work until this writer strike is over kind of puts me out of traveling anywhere. I had hoped the have the car smoged and licensed again already, but it is on hold of course. What do you guys think of coming out here?

LOL Tony I'm doing the 5 lug conversion yet. I have to collect all the parts and get new wheels and I have to get back to work and get caught up before all of that takes place.

Lets try to do this BBQ sometime soon. How soon are people available?

So not this up coming weekend but maybe the follow weekend good for a BBQ?

Dean_T
01-17-2008, 01:26 AM
Sounds good to me. This weekend I was going to go back to the wrecking yard and grab a bunch of stuff off a two door Fairmont sedan. It has the vent window door but the door shell is in better shape than mine.

Maybe I could get some pointers on how to rebuild an 8.8? I have 4.10 gears and an 8.8 but need to order the rest of the rebuild parts.

Oh, the Fairmont wagon is up to the killer hill challenge!

Dean T

01-17-2008, 01:45 AM
Well, I'll make a phone call to Thomas and see if the civic is up to the challenge..lol

Btw, you know what happened to that beast after it blew the rods??

he took it in and paid a lot of cash and had a used japanese replacement motor dropped in.

that only lasted a few months before it blew the head gasket...now he's got to do the upper end on that motor, apparently his cost. Poor guy. You'd think he'd learn to stay the **** away from honda's by now.

fordfreak300
01-17-2008, 02:00 AM
does his stang run? Tell him to leave the honda at home...lol

Marz
01-17-2008, 02:16 AM
I'm for it. And I could bring the GT this time for that 8.8 job and maybe a fine tune to the 4180c?

I don't drive it too much. Trying to keep it as an occasional weekend car.

And anybody know where I can smog it w/o actually having to smog it? ;)

I'll keep my eyes on this thread, can't make any promises though.

I'm doing a widebody kit and engine swap on my house right now...

a widebody kit and engine swap on your house? What are you living in a motorhome?

I have to change the fate. The weekend I was referring to is the 26th and my wife has a doctor's appointment. Lets shoot for. Feb 2nd. It's a sat.

AT6svo
01-17-2008, 07:13 PM
If thats the same weekend as the superbowl I'll be out of town already.

Widebody kit = adding 500sqft to my 1100 sqft house
Engine swap = remodeling kitchen and adding 2nd bath at same time

jaime...lol took me a minute to figure out who you were!!!!

then I read your sig!

Fantastic to see you on this site!!!

For sure, I'm there set in stone too.

I just took my vert on it's biggest maiden voyage since my dash and autometer gauge install/rewire job. Took it down to tustin and back.

She ran flawlessly except for the ****ing oil pressure gauge that kept leaking on my knee. Guess I'll have to fix that.

Ya I finally got off my arse and joined. Lots of good things happening to the stang lately. Doug is finally finished with my motor and if all goes well, and I can scrape up the extra $$'s, it will be in soon.

Hey guys, I have a set of 83+ Mustang rear window louvers I don't want anymore. I was thinking about tossing them on my 85 GT but decided not to. They need paint and a little work but whom ever wants them can have them for 20 bux. They have their props and all. They are the type that stick to the back window under the trim. And they're metal.

If anybody wants them I'll bring them along.

Feb 2 is a go. I need a break from dismantling cars.

Thanks Mark and Jeremy for hosting and arranging the Southern Cal FEP meet.

Now I can see how tough it was slapping in EFI fuel lines on an '84...

Dean T

01-21-2008, 02:56 AM
btw, corey and thomas don't check into FEP as much either, but thomas has said that he's a go in his vert 5.0, and corey has said he's a go too.

1) I'll show up as usual.
2) I might have to work a few hours that day; so i might have to be "fassionably late".
3) Where will the event be held? Jeremy's or Mark's place? Inquiring minds whanna know....;)
4) I should have fresh time slips from the weekend before....:evl:

fordfreak300
01-21-2008, 11:59 AM
Tony it's at my place.

Eightysixnotch It is at my place which is in Yucca Valley. In case your wondering that is north of Palmsprings near Joshua Tree and 29 palms. You are more than welcome to come.

Dean I can show you what I did with the fuel lines. I'm not real happy with it yet and plan to redo some parts and I will show you why. It would have been much easier had I not already had subframe connectors. I had to actually run the fuel line under them at one point. Making them lower than I would care for. I am going to temporarily cut those sections out then double flare them and add some fittings to both sides and put them back in. That will at least let me get the fuel line between the body of the car and subframe connector. I should have my 3g alt and Mark VIII fan installed along with my a.c. reinstalled when you get here. I am only able to do things I previously purchased right now since the writer strike is going strong and my unemployment is only $96 a week. I planned ahead and had a few things to do with the car ready to go though. I go out every few days and work on it for a day. I am really glad to have this time with my wife and kids though. The baby is so big you guys aren't going to believe it. Was the baby already born last time everyone was here?

Ohh yeah one more thing, you guys will have never seen my car as dirty as it is now. Car is dirty, engine is filthy. Maybe I better at least wash the car and clean out the interior before you guys get here. I am looking forward to seeing some of the changes to your cars as well.

v8only
01-21-2008, 06:30 PM
come mark, the meet isn't for a week or two....we're ALL dying to see your handywork with your mustang, so it better be damned clean ;)

I do believe your baby was born last time, but was extremely young. I look forward to it greatly!

eightysixnotch, we usually meet up at my place in corona, then all leave together from there.

I'll likely be driving my 86 mustang up, although I could drive the hemi ram up as it seats 6, but i'd rather not feel like a taxi to mark's house.

corey and thomas are coming, and thomas is driving his 5.0 too, so there should be plenty of room for all. eightysix, we've spoken a lot in pm's...don't think your notch is up and running under the 4 banger power is it?

Dean_T
01-21-2008, 07:55 PM
Cool! Thanks Mark!

I have a Fairmont wagon so if anyone wants 10 holes, rear quarter panels off an '86 'vert, or 'vert doors, PM me!

Blah, I was reclocking my 3g alt and screwed up and broke the brushes on the voltage regulator. I will have to go pick up a new one tomorrow. I have it already to go in, bracket cut. Just need to run the new 4 gauge wire from the alt to the starter solenoid. Then I can wire in my fan.

v8only
01-21-2008, 08:29 PM
mark, if you're broke, I may have an alternator to give ya

fordfreak300
01-22-2008, 12:52 AM
The alt still works, I just need to get a new voltage regulator. I don't need the whole unit. I broke the brushes reinstalling the back of teh case as I did not remove the voltage regulator like I should have. Thankyou for the offer. My 2g alt still works so the car is not dead in the water. I will get the 3g alt fixed tomorrow after I buy a new voltage regulator and install it. It will take my longer to drive to the autoparts store than it will to install the darn thing.

I'm going, period. I've got the time scheduled off with the wife already.

like I said, I'll be in the vert. I don't think i'm taking too much stuff up, so I "may" have a spot in the backseat for someone.

And, as mentioned, if you all meet up at my place, I could likely convince my bro to drive my ram, and you could all pitch in a few bucks for gas.

fordfreak300
01-27-2008, 08:34 PM
I am almost ready to start the car again. I just have to hook up the power wire to the starter solenoid from the alt, the alt side is hooked up already. And I need to find a 12v ign wire for my fan controller and I can test it all out. It is actually raining today so I took I stopped there. I have to jack my car up to get to the starter solenoid as I hid it in the wheel well and I didn't feel like parking the wifes car out in the rain.

anthonydalrymple

What do you plan on doing? You install that Mark VIII fan I brought over to you last year?

fordfreak300
01-27-2008, 11:56 PM
Installing it and my 3g alt finally. I only have to hook it up, I didn't make it out to finish it yet. Only 2 connections left. The mark VIII fan is already installed on the car and the fan controller is mounted and only needs the 12v ignition wire hooked up. The 3G alt is mounted and all wires ran and hooked up except I need to hook the 4 gage wire from the alt to my starter solenoid. The solenoid is in my wheel well though so I have to jack the car up for enough room to get to it. I'll get it finished tomorrow afternoon for sure though.

eightysixnotch, a 9000lb truck combined with a 502 Big Block Chevy with a TH400 tranny and 4.10s in the rear = bad mileage. On the + side of things, i can pull anything I can hook up to my old burb. It is the 3/4HD Towing model which was a fancy way of saying it has all of the 1 ton suspension and brakes. I actually pulled a 1/2 ton chevy up this huge hill to my house on 7 cylinders at 65mph, I was only at half throttle. The rocker arm nut on one cylinder kept coming loose. I got mew rocker arm nuts and all is good. Now it always fires on all 8.

Tony, as mentioned in my other thread, your t5z is coming along nice. It would be nice to get it to you by saturdays meet, but that all depends on if the 3/4 slider comes in, and if I can get all the play within tolerance without having to order more shims.

It's cool Jeremy. I'm suddenly hearing more than ever this sharp metal tap from what sounds like the valve train on the motor. I'm not going to race it with that potential problem going on and i don't think I'll have time to adjust the valve train before Saturday...... Might have to do it at Mark's place....;)

fordfreak300
01-29-2008, 03:28 PM
My rockers make all kinds of noise. I can't wait to get roller rockers. And the heads they go on.

Jeremy I watched e-bay since our last meet and finally was able to get a 3g alt for .01 cents. That's right a penny. The guy mislisted it.

Tony we can adjust anything you need to while your here. Jeremy is going to do his mass air conversion here also.

Dean I think we can just do a grocery store run when everyone gets here.

I still have to clean my garage. It has been trashed since I started my EFI conversion. Although it will be easy to clean back up. I'll get it done today.

v8only
01-29-2008, 03:48 PM
I've had some valve train noise forever too. #4 is noisy. Every once in a while I get a huge clattering up top at #4 for 2-3 seconds on startup. I think one of those lifters are bleeding down. It also has a steady slight ticking...I just don't want to rip off that damned intake.

I have the iPod to RCA jacks and am willing to bring the iPod if you have the inputs to play it through your stereo. I can put it on random and we can have a few hours of fun listening to it.

Yeah, thats what I'm wondering.

But if it wont, I have a set of portable speakers we can hook it up to that I use at work or durring BBQ's. Even charges while playing. :P

I know he had a portable CD player hooked up to it last we were there. If thats the case we can use that 3.5mm jack on the iPod.

Well My archaic stereo actually does have RCA jacks and that portable cd player hooks in through them and uses the headphone jack. So we are good to go there. I can charge up my ipod too although I have all of my songs on my laptop as well. I have no where near what you guys have as far as songs though.

As far as what time to get here anytime is really fine. I'll be up very early with the baby as usual. So tell me when you want to be here.

I have a 4180 C that I pulled from truck a while back. Mind if I bring that and we can possibly play with it? I don't have any money for a rebuild kit though. :(

I spent every night this week assembling the black interior, and although not complete, she doesn't look as much like a junkyard dog as before.

Dean, I've got your center console packed.

thanks guys, I too had a fantastic time, despite the fact that my mustang took a leak right before the cruise up...

good news is, I just went out to it, and took a look again, and saw that my leak is coming from the upper radiator hose where it goes into both the radiator and water neck...it's leaking at both ends. I can see a trail of water going down the whole tank from the upper radiator hose. Ah well, what did Tony say about using used parts (like spark plug wires and spark plugs) Guess it's time to stop using parts car radiator hoses, and buy some new ones. As marz said yesterday, if we didn't have so many damned chiefs under the hood last night, one of us would have seen that, and could have run literally right across the street for another hose....All is ok though, it was fun cruising in the Ram...almost better than in an old mustang with no heater or stereo.

Bad news is that my farts are absolutely horrendous this morning....after eating all that crap last night, my ass smells like a concoction of charcoals and a rotting red meat.

Oh well, the wife and kids will just have to suffer through it.
