Want to see if there is any interest in my '85 GT t-top.
I'm getting really tired fighting with my homeowners association over getting a parking permit. They don't want to give me a permit to park outside because the registration for my company car is not in my name. Therefore it's a "commercial" vehicle and not allowed to be parked outside. So I'm out of garage space. Anyway...
I have a completely rust-free, solid '85 GT t-top with AOD. I just finished putting in new carpet (so I know for a fact the floors are solid) and refinishing some of the interior, and am in the process of refinishing the exterior trim (yes, while it's on the car). That's the good news. Also, and this is my favorite part of the car besides the t-tops, is the front seats that were re-done in a leather and cloth pattern similar to the original pattern.
The bad news is, the car won't turn over now. It ran perfectly fine (I drove it a couple times a week) before I parked it to start on the interior 2+ months ago. It didn't leak, it shifted fine, and ran strong. I replaced the battery (it was cranking slowly before), put in fresh oil (it does leak oil now) and fresh gas and it still won't turn over. I know the timing is off and probably needs new spark plugs. I don't think it needs much else to get it back on the road. The previous owner couldn't get it pass smog here in Calif. I replaced some of the missing parts (TAC, heat riser tubes and snorkel-to-fender tubes) but it still needs a new O2 sensor (I have one that will go with the car), probably a new cat, and all the vacuum hoses need to be re-routed to pass smog.
So basically it's a very solid t-top that needs a little mechanical work and a paint job to be a good car. I have no intention of listing the car anywhere else. If a FEP member is interested, then I will sell it, otherwise I will keep it and continue fighting my HOA and playing the rotating cars game.
Send me your email for pics.
I'll consider any reasonably fair offer, so if anyone is interested, pls PM me
