Thats right, I am selling my car. I will be putting it on Ebay in the next month. I figure I would give FEP a heads up. I would really want this special car to go to a true enthusiast. This car was built by Dugan Racing in Atlanta almost 15 years ago... back then you couldnt even buy 93 cobra stuff on the open market. The bumper, lights, hatch, ground effects were sourced from all over the country from real 93 cobras. No after market body parts were used on the car. The drive line was completely replaced with brand new FMS components, 302 roller long block with the FMS steel GT40 heads, E cam, and topped with a performer rpm and holley 650, T-5, and a donor 8.8 out of a newer Mustang that received posi and 3:55 gears. Rear is hung by lakewood lift control arms. This car hooks really really well. I rebuilt the engine a few years ago, TSW forged pistons, total seal rings, rotating assy balanced, new balancer, new mounts, heads rebuilt, new carb, new king cobra clutch. Since then I have put maybe 15K on the car. The body of the car has less that 150K on it. I figured out the exact number awhile back but I cant remember, A brand new from ford 140mph speedo was put in when the car was built. The original one hadn't clicked over yet, i know that. The paint that was layed down was show winning quality. The receipts for the paint and cobra body parts alone is close to $8000. It is still really nice, a few small dings, the rear bumper needs repainted. Not perfect but a solid 10 footer. Considering the age the car, it is in exceptional condition, I have only seen pictures of Capris online that are in this good of shape. A very rare car, I have actually only seen maybe 10 other Capris in person my whole life, none in really good shape :)
Now for the bad part. I was accelerating and the engine stopped and I heard a noise. The car was stuck in 2nd so I assumed the trans went because the motor ran so well and all. I had the car towed to a shop and had them put in a rebuilt T-5. After its in, they called me and told me the car wont start. So I didn't have any more money so I had the car towed back home. I eventually came to the conclusion that I had cracked the crank. With the starter removed to see the flywheel, I can move the harmonic balancer about 1/8th of an inch with out the flywheel moving. These are supposed to be connected. I called my engine builder and he said it is not uncommon for 302s to break the stock crank after adding higher compression pistons like I did. He also said that the few times he saw it just a new crank fixed it, so that is the silver lining. I haven't torn into the motor, its got a T-5 with 0 miles on it, the clutch still looked really good. I am out of cash and am over it. I want $3000 for the car and I am fairly firm on it at this point.
