There were 16,xxx '79s made, '80 numbers have not been released yet but Marti should have them early next year. A '79 cobra would have no front air dam, no rear spoiler and inside door levers on the bottoms of the doors, an '80 would have a front air dam, rear spoiler, and the inside door levers on the tops of the doors (where they were for the rest of the fox series).

oh ...
did i mention the original motor is gone and it no longer has a turbo on the 4cyl in it now , its a little beat but should come back to life rather easy, i have a t/c donner motor for it after i rebuild the svo motor , and a 8.8 w/ rear disc , 91 5.0 front brakes , almost every thing i need to do a resto mod , and still keep it a turbo4

Sounds great! When you get some more info on the car, I'd love if you'd regsiter it and send some pictures (see the link in my signature). The more Cobras the merrier! What color combo?

Your car sounds very interesting. We'd love to see pictures. 79-80 Cobras are favorites around this board. Everyone knows about 79 Pace Cars, but the Cobras were some of the neater "early early" Foxes, and have been somewhat forgotten/overlooked. There are several very nice examples from members from which you can draw inspiration.

i believe it was tan and brown , but i wasnt looking at the color once i seen the scope on the hood and the emeblem on the dash "turbo charged", looked under the hood didnt see a turbo and the exaughst went stright down not around , did a quick lap around the car , and said yeah ill take it ,
i did the windshield in there chevy pick up , is how i found it , owner of the property wants it out of there, to where he dont care . owner of the car wants it to go to some one who will use/love/care for it . husban of the owner wants 200.00 for it . talked to my wife about it , she handed me the money and said happy birthday . i always wanted a early cobra any ways . it is on the list of fox mustangs i want to own

Got a good list going there. Between my buddy (we run earlycobra.com together) we have 3 '80 Cobra's, a Black Majic T-Top Capri, an 84 Predator and then a few other 85-86s. Keep us posted and post pics when you get a chance!

Sorry for being a bit off topic but they are eventually going to have Marti report info for Fords from 1980?? AWSOME!! let me know the second this happens and I'm going to order one up right away!

Yes, Marti Auto will eventually have reports for '80, and '81, and '82, and......up to the last year they have paperwork for.

Wow, awesome deal and a birthday gift to boot! Having an 80-81 Cobra is definitely near the top of my Foxbody want list. I'm jealous!

Nice find. Do what you can to keep it a turbo 4. You will gather more interest from people since the turbo option wasnt seen very much. Good luck.

Me neither. Hurry up already! LOL!
I'd like another Cobra and if/when I get one, I'm sure I'll have to find it out west or down south. I don't one from the snow/salt areas. I deal with rust on my daily driver's too much to want to fix one of those.

motor is froze and the interior is so faded it needs to be replaced, it has low back seats , they remind me of the stock seats in my gl ttop car , black carpet , black dash pad , console delete , 4 speed , power locks, the rear sway bar is so thin, i laught when i seen it , 13 inch rims with brand new tires , cobra emblems are intact on the interior but theres no grafix on the hood
thinking about going black or grey with the interior .i have most every thing to fix the stop and go problems theye are fraught with , and the wife will not let me transplant the capri's interior i installed in it, to the cobra . so it looks like i need to start searching again

This looks like a good find. I'd suggest keeping it stock or near-stock--- you just don't see them anymore. I like that period-correct brown & tan paint/trim.

Very nice find. Any updates/progress? Strange, I don't see any turbo specific wiring, vacuum lines or switches in the engine compartment. Somebody must have ripped it all out at some point.

requested the 999 report from ford . and putting togather parts for upgrades and minor mods
A great looking car!! Looks like the one I used to own;same color. Mine was used one year before I bought it by the Pennsylvania State police. It had lo back bucket seats and still had a switch under the dash that would make the headlight flash alternatly. That made for alot of fun in my younger days!!Wish I still had it;Imiss that "TurboWhistle". Got $1,000 as trade in for a new 85GT.It sold in less one hour after I picked up my GT.
